Django Unchained

In case you don't know: parts of this movie are a tribute to the 1966 movie Django (which I've never seen), which tells an entirely unrelated story - but Tarantino uses much of the soundtrack music from that film in this one, and Franco Nero, who played the title role in the original Django, does a cameo in Tarantino's film as the master of the slave whom Calvin Candie's slave kills in the Mandingo fight. By the way, my understanding is that historians aren't sure whether "Mandingo" fights to the death between slaves existed as a sport in the antebellum south, but the frequency with which it is portrayed in later media would suggest that it was far more widespread than it could possibly have really been if it existed at all, or we would know about it for sure.
Love this movie! But I can't help but think if Dr. Shultz would of just gone to Candyland and said he wanted to buy the girl who spoke German, because he is German that he could of got Hilda without any trouble. But yes it is a movie.馃槄 Also the man who ask Django how to spell his name was the original Django in the 1960's movie.
