EmuDeck WE 2.1.14 Quick fix
Hi, it seems the new gaming mode feature is having a bigger than usual % of failure among you guys so we are pulling the feature until we can figure out why it's not working as intended!
For those of you that have it already enabled and working don't worry, it will continue to work.
If you haven't enabled it and want to test it out, you can manually enable it by navigating to this folder:
To enable it
USERFOLDER/AppData/Roaming/EmuDeck/backend/tools/gamemode/enablegamemode.bat
To disable it:
USERFOLDER/AppData/Roaming/EmuDeck/backend/tools/gamemode/disablegamemode.bat
If you don't get Steam UI when loading and you get a black screen just press
CTRL + ALT + DEL, open Task Manager -> File - Run new task, write explorer and hit enter.
Navigate to USERFOLDER/AppData/Roaming/EmuDeck/backend/tools/gamemode/disablegamemode.bat and you should be back on your Desktop

Still having problems for the controls to work I open it on emulationstation and regular ps2 in steam and controller doesn’t work any fix?
Hey, I'm launching it through Steam. If I put it on "Auto" and switch the controls to "Pro Controller" and Input device "Xbox 360 controller", it doesn't recognize any inputs. I think the Rog Ally is staying in desktop mode because, if I change the input device to "keyboard, it will allow me to navigate, but no button inputs. Not smart enough to know why the Rog isn't automatically switching to gamepad mode itself, lol. Thank you for looking into this.
I don’t have an Ally here but other people reported that you have to change your Ally to gamepad mode and not on auto mode
Hmm when I try to install emudeck it says: “search for app in windows store?” If I press no, nothing happens, if i press yes, it says no results found
It is version 2.1.6 btw. Maybe its too old of a version? How would I get the newest one?
I have the ROG Ally and Citra doesn't seem to be installing. Every other standalone emulator is showing up except Citra. Will there be an update for this?
There’s an issue I have to check when using EmulationStation but adding the games to Steam Deck should work out of the box
Oh yes, my ally immediately recognized my sd card in file explorer
And you can select it on EmuDeck?
I have a question. Do I have to format a brand new SD card before installing emudeck? And should I chose NTFS or exFat?
Doesn’t matter, as long as windows can detect it you should be fine
The only way I can get Yuzu to work on my Rog Ally is to turn the control mode to "Gamepad" instead of "Auto". After I made this change, I went into configuration on Yuzu and switched the controls to "Handheld" and input device "Xbox 360 Controller 0". I hope there is another way to get this to work automatically without having to go through all these adjustments each time I want to play something in Yuzu.

I have also installed on the ally but have a weird issue with button mapping. I launch emulation station through steam and the a button does as expected and selects but the b button doesn't go back a menu, and instead brings up the main menu. I've tried every button and non work as the back button? I.e. x and y are acting like page up and down. I selected the ally as the device when doing the install process. Any ideas?
I may have sussed this out, and might be useful to you for testing. It's armoury crate and the control mapping. It defaults to auto, and it seems steam / emulation station treat it as keyboard layout. Use the armoury crate button and change it to gamepad it starts to work. If you look in the keyboard mapping on armoury crate for desktop mode the b button is mapped to escape.
When installing on Rog Ally, it does not recognize SD card and says if SD card is not recognized, need to format in Game Mode as if installing for Steam Deck vs Windows. This is a brand new SD card (never used). I removed the SD card and put it back in multiple times and still not recognized. How can I fix this?
if you use the file explorer can you see the SD Card on the Ally?
How do I format SD card for Windows?
as you would do normally on Windows, there's nothing special to do :)
