This is the Playnix Steam Console + upcoming Patreon perks

Hi! A lot of text incoming, beware :D

Yes, the picture above is real, not an AI render :)

After more than a year, I’m finally ready to announce my new project: Playnix. But don’t worry, EmuDeck isn’t going anywhere or losing any attention, as you've read this week we are working hard on the Android port.

Playnix aims to be for PC gaming what EmuDeck is for emulation: an easy way to get into PC gaming.

  • Console gaming is simple but comes with downsides like expensive games compared to PC, limited to current-gen titles, and lower performance than a PC counterpart.

  • PC gaming, on the other hand, is messy with too many costly hardware options, bulky cases (even the Fractal Ridge is too big), and a steep learning curve. You can easily overspend or underspend and not be happy with your setup. But Steam is fantastic. You can play both new AAA releases and classics, and with SteamOS, PCs can be dead simple to use

That’s where the Playnix Console comes in. It’s built from a curated selection of components that hit the sweet spot between performance and price, designed for effortless couch gaming to make PC gaming more accessible.

Key features:

  • Targets 4K 60 FPS with automatic AI upscaling (XeSS or FSR4), no frame generation, and high settings. As powerful or more than a PS5 Pro, yet smaller and quieter. CyberPunk benchmark here ( sorry for my shitty screen capture card ) -> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fJ3ERc2tfNg

  • High-quality 3D-printed cases, each taking around 20 hours to print. Eight color schemes available.

  • Includes an 8BitDo Ultimate 2 controller ready to go — just power it on and play, no pairing needed.

  • Runs PlaynixOS, a simple Arch Linux distro with Steam Game Mode for a Steam Deck-like experience. You can install other OSes too (Windows, Bazzite, etc.).

  • Desktop mode to install software like... EmuDeck :)

  • Fully upgradeable and repairable by the user.

  • Priced at 999 € (VAT included in Europe) / $999 elsewhere.

  • Shipping in about two weeks.

  • Specs: 32 GB RAM, 1 TB NVMe SSD, Ryzen 5600 AM4 CPU, Sapphire 9060 XT OC 16 GB GPU, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5, 600 W PSU.

With each case taking 20 hours to print, production will stay small-scale. This project exists only because of the incredible support you’ve all shown me, and I want to give something back.

New perks for EA / Lifetime patrons:

  • Early access to the Playnix Shop to get the console before anyone else.

  • Discounts for yearly tiers. Yearly and lifetime patrons will get a 35€ coupon toward the console, if you get a Playnix Console it's like getting the EmuDeck EA membership for free for a year.

Discount rollout plan:

  • A giveaway among top-tier patrons, the oldest supporters will win a free Playnix Console today, expect a DM from me.

  • Also from next week new yearly EA patrons will get an automatic one-time discount code when generating their token during EmuDeck EA installation.

  • Current yearly members and lifetime licensees will receive a link to claim their code next week too.

  • Active non-yearly patrons who’ve been supporting for at least a year will also get the link next week.

  • Former EA patrons who stayed for at least a year before November 2025 but are now free-tier users will get their discount too, but after all other waves have been carried out.

I’ll send an email next week to all active EA and Lifetime patrons with the password and URL for the Playnix Shop and the link to claim your discount code.

Like I said I've been working on this for a long time and I'm really excited to finally launch it!

I hope you will enjoy playing on the Playnix Console as much effort I've put into developing it!

Please don't leak this on social media or any other website!

Any thoughts on selling the case alone?

E
Eragon · January 8, 2026

Where can I purchase one?

E
EmuDeck · January 13, 2026

shop.playnix.io but we are out of stock right now, you can add your email to a waiting list though.

DeckFilter · December 4, 2025

Googling Playnix results in a lot of different stuff likle a YT channel and an mobile app etc. How did you come up with the name?

Gregg Kroening · November 28, 2025

Just had my Playnix delivered.... SO excited to unbox this thing!

G
Gregg Kroening · November 29, 2025

That being said I'm having an amazing first few hours, when are we going to be able to share our opinions online to help share our experiences? I know there was a mention of some kind of support for each customer after purchase but I haven't seen anything yet.

I plan on buying one after Christmas! Can't wait!

Got so sad seeing playnixos was arch based and not nixos based lol. There are dozens of us that play on nixos dozens!

Hank Frennig · November 8, 2025

purchased a unit a couple days ago, is there a page I can visit for product discussion/support?

B
Ben Johnson · January 20, 2026

Looking for same. Just powered mine on and not getting any video signal on my TV.

Aidan · November 7, 2025

Is there an SD card reader so games and Roms can be easily shared with the Deck?

E
EmuDeck · November 7, 2025

nop but you have like 7 USB ports for that :D

A
Aidan · November 7, 2025

I'm very interested in this but would like to see some reviews before diving in. Do you have plans for review units to go out?

E
EmuDeck · November 7, 2025

for some reason my response got deleted :( I plan to send some review units to some youtubers, I don't want to give you MOFO but when the reviews are live this will stop being a Patreon exclusive and getting an unit will be harder. If you want I can try and run some game benchmarks, post more photos, etc. so your doubts are answered!

Aidan · November 7, 2025

Why are you using a custom OS rather than Bazzite or Cachy OS? What is unique about it? Is it immutable? Does it include performance optimisations like Cachy?

E
EmuDeck · November 7, 2025

Only one main reason: So I don't get caught in an update that could break the console :) Every update will be tested and carried over by us

E
Eduardo Resende · November 6, 2025

Will you ship internationally?

E
EmuDeck · November 6, 2025

Where are you located? But yes

l
lawlesshero1 · November 5, 2025

Is it easy to install windows I like to pc game with Xbox

E
EmuDeck · November 6, 2025

It’s a PC so yes

D
Doug Hand · November 4, 2025

Also, what motherboard is going to be used in this? To be honest I havent seen a mother board with that configuration of IO port setup before, but that could also be the location im in so im wondering what kind of setup is used. I know its an AM4 chipset, but micro atx? Is it the asus one too?

E
EmuDeck · November 6, 2025

ITX, micro ATX is too big

pol blanco · November 4, 2025

What CPU and GPU temperatures are achieved in typical benchmark tests?

E
EmuDeck · November 4, 2025

About 65C running the CyberPunk benchmark -> https://x.com/PlaynixIO/status/1980639113956282539/photo/1

DeckFilter · November 3, 2025

That’s an awesome project. I just built my PC with the fractal ridge otherwise I would have purchased.

D
Doug Hand · November 3, 2025

This looks like an amazing product, but for myself, would there be anyway you would sell just the hardware without the case? I have 2 printers i am consistently using for printing components for and would be more than willing to print the files for faster shipping and supply, as well as cheaper cost overall as I have an overabundunce of filament. Plus being able to customize to my liking would be a major plus. Dont know if its possible or if you're willing to upload the files for printing but I think it would entice a lot of people including myself. Plus, I love building stuff lol so assembling and seeing how it goes together would be very beneficial especially if there are issues with it later on (we all know how electronics can be)

F
Fernando Ramos · November 3, 2025

I was thinking the same thing as I have 25 printers. I wonder what material it’s going to be used to be better heat resistant than PLA

R
Robert Hahn · November 3, 2025

How’s the performance on Doom Dark Ages, Wukong, BF6?

B
Bruno Pascoal · November 4, 2025

BF6 will not run on Linux

R
Reavo End · November 2, 2025

Digging it. But can the controller power on the Playnix? For me, that's the difference between a simple comfy couch gaming experience and a more complex HTPC.

P
Ping Qian · November 4, 2025

I suspect they could achieve this using a mechanism similar to Wake-on-USB.

K
Kev Morris · November 2, 2025

consider selling the hardware core and publish the print files for those with printers to make at home? Makers love to tinker!

E
EmuDeck · November 4, 2025

Not sure in the future, but not right now. You'll need a big printer though. Measurements -> https://pbs.twimg.com/media/G338tv_WIAAJqUt?format=jpg&name=large

D
Dean Hoffmann · November 2, 2025

When can i buy it?

E
EmuDeck · November 7, 2025

now

N
NightStorm1000 · November 2, 2025

AM4... Outdated already. That thing is DoA

E
EmuDeck · November 2, 2025

Why?

R
Ryno · November 2, 2025

Very cool - what does upgrading look like over time (I have a 2-fan 5070 that needs a new home and have been thinking about a TV PC)

E
EmuDeck · November 2, 2025

You open the case and put new hardware ( considering it fits and has a similar TDP, don’t expect to fit a 5090 inside :D ).

R
Retr0 Kn1ght · November 2, 2025

This will be an awesome way to finally get my friends onboard with PC gaming since they prefer consoles.

A
Adrian daw · November 2, 2025

Interesting indeed

D
Daric Gotti · November 2, 2025

This looks perfect to take on the go for work trips!

J
Jaylaytay · November 2, 2025

Well now I'm curious, how long has the oldest supporters been supporting? What's the definition 🤔 Also really cool project!

E
EmuDeck · November 2, 2025

They are people that’s been since the beginning years ago

B
Brent Bishop · November 2, 2025

Love the idea. I already have pc's connected to TV's in multiple rooms of my house or I would be very onboard with getting one. I hope it's a success for you!

N
Numb Skull Krew Entertainment · November 2, 2025

Isn't using an AM4 platform, go against the whole "upgradable" claim? The AM4 socket was originally launched in 2017. For $999 I would like to see AM5, an 8500g would be more expensive but not by much. Selling a R5 5600 only seems like a short sighted cost cut. Especially pairing it with a 9060xt 16gb.

N
Numb Skull Krew Entertainment · November 2, 2025

Actually strike that, R5 7500F would be a better dollar per frame

R
Ruben Amestoy · November 2, 2025

Looks awesome. Looking forward to getting one!

J
Jay · November 2, 2025

This is very cool! I already have a PC connected to my TV. Otherwise, I would definitely be in the market for something like this. Once it officially launches, I will certainly spread the word.
