2.3.13 EmuDeck Bug fix + Need your Feedback!

Hi, There was an issue on 2.3.11 that made Custom Mode behave like Easy Mode, that has been fixed.

There was also a random issue with RetroLibrary where it won't install randomly, should be also fixed, if after installing it, it doesn't appear just restart your Deck

And about RetroLibrary, it's a plugin I'm really excited about so that can make me blind over its shortcominngs, can you give me your feedback? Do you like it? Or do you prefer to use SRM or ESDE over it and why? What features would it be cool to add? etc.

I really like retro library, I think it is a better alternative to all other options. It feels more integrated.

I've installed the plug in for the Retro Library and can see the games, however none of the games will load. Which is strange, as they work normally other ways.

Cloudsync doesn't seem to be working for a few of us. Everything works but upload always fails, and this is across multiple devices.

I haven't had a reason to try it over ESDE lol. I might take another look at it just for that wii theme I saw in another post

I would like retro library but I don't find any option to download cover images and it doesn't appear to do it automatically.

I've changed the parser for images, try it again and let me know :)

I come from SRM. I really like the last big update to retro library, however I still have some nitpicks: 1. Doesn’t recognize BIN/CUE formatted ps2 games(gonna have to convert to iso) 2. Doesn’t add hero, icon or logo(you need to do it manually while the game is in recent). 3. The grid covers selected for the ps2 are squared instead of rectangular. 4. The retroachievements integration can’t be viewed in the library(you need to launch the game first and then you can view it while the game is in recent).

1 Not a solution but use EmuDeck compressor to convert them to CHD 2 For me it does on all my testing, can you send me a DM so I can try to work things out? 3 That's easy to fix :) 4 This was working before but I do need to revisit it, I had to disable it because it hanged the system while checking the game hash

I like the idea of the Retro Library, but I find ES-DE to be a better experience for those with large libraries. Screenscraper does a really nice job of getting all the games’ artwork, even for some obscure titles. When I used SRM, it was a major pain and very time consuming finding all the right box art. Just wasn’t worth it. In ES-DE, it’s pretty easy to set custom emulators and I like the favorites feature a lot; makes it easy to find those games. Lastly, I like that ES-DE plays short videos of each game as you’re browsing, and it displays each game’s metadata as well. Nothing you can really do about that in Steam, though.

Hi, thanks for your feedback! - RL does use ScreenScraper to get artwork, first version used SRM images but I changed to SS a while ago. - Custom emulators will come in the future, right now it detects if you have a Standalone emulator to use over RetroArch but it's automatic. - Videos: I'm still on the fence on this one, we'll see if I add it in the future

i love srm, because i have all games in one place and can use all features of steam like, custom controls per game and playtime for each game :D

I really like the idea of RetroLibrary, from day one I'm really excited by it. Actual functionality is getting better and better everyday. I have a suggestion: would it be possible to have it on Steam like ES-DE? I would rather use that option instead of going into Steam Menu.

E
EmuDeck · February 18, 2025

Since it's a Decky plugin It can't be appear in Steam as a non Steam Game :(

Is Retro Library still Linux only? Id argue thats my biggest issue being an ROG Ally owner. I dont love esde and right now in steam it loads to a black screen and I have to manually select a separate window with esde in it so most things other than cluttering my steam library would be ideal lol.

A
Aaron Quebman · February 18, 2025

No I just either have to catch the actual emulation station task in the task bar before it goes black and hold it there OR I have to manually swap screens on the ally pulling up the task bar

I do like the Idea of Retro library , my main issue at the moment (and why I don't use it) is that I frequently change between standalone emulators and Retroarch ones or for example citron and ryujinx I did see somewhere that that seems to be a planned feature tho and once it is I think I'll be using it more

E
EmuDeck · February 16, 2025

as in a game per game basis or system level?

K
Keith Leyson · February 16, 2025

I don't like Retro Library because it feels like another ESDE

S

Is that not the point?
