Poll for Windows users

Hi, quick question, do you use Steam in Big Picture Mode or just regular Steam? Thinking about porting some stuff depending on the answer :)

On the system I would use EmuDeck on I use big picture. Desktop otherwise. I usually use ES-DE as a frontend though and would just use big picture to download games.

I have 1 question how could i make my phone completely like some emudeck machine?

J
J S · October 19, 2024

Big picture if I'm in my couch. Steam Desktop if I'm sitting at my PC.

E
Eric Lengyel · October 19, 2024

Both depending on where I'm playing

S
Stomat · October 18, 2024

Depends on desk or TV setup

M
Mic Smith · October 17, 2024

Tv big picture, ROG ally big picture and PC normal mode

I
Ivan Adame · October 17, 2024

playnite on full screen

D
Doomed Madhouse · October 16, 2024

Desktop but I'm working on a Big Picture setup pretty soon.

C
CapnCarbine · October 15, 2024

I'd love to use big picture mode but 1. I don't have my controller connected all the time and 2. Xbox controllers have a preset binding to do left & right mouse click so big picture not necessary as I can get into a game faster then loading it up.

M
Mark Kilborn · October 15, 2024

Both quite a bit. I have two Windows PCs. The one at my desk, I use it in desktop mode. The one attached to the TV in my living room I use almost exclusively in Big Picture mode unless I need to tinker with something.

R
Ron Poppe · October 15, 2024

i mainly game on my asus rog ally 7. so big picture mode/armory crate is my goto mode.

L
Luke Woods · October 15, 2024

I use both. Big picture on my TV and for my kids. Then Steam desktop on my gaming PC. But I'm honestly surprised how much we use big picture these days.

D

On Handled and TV Big Picture, on Computer never Big Picture.

K
Kitocco · October 14, 2024

Steam Desktop on my Desktop. On Steam Deck. I mainly play in Game Mode. On the topic of Desktop on Windows, is there a way to turn off the black windows/panel that pops up when I launch an EmuDeck shortcut? I transitioned from manually using emulators for the sake of cloud sync.

S
Sam Winotai · October 14, 2024

If on a laptop, just regular Steam Desktop. But if on my LeGo, then Big Picture.

S
Steven Rodriguez · October 14, 2024

Effectively have never launched big picture mode except by accident.

K
Katherine Ullman · October 14, 2024

If I were casting Steam onto my TV, I'd use Big Picture mode, but as it is, I've got a huge ultra wide screen monitor so I don't bother. :D

I
Ivan Bisbee · October 14, 2024

Both, honestly.

W
Will · October 14, 2024

Both

p
prodigalseams · October 14, 2024

Laptop in desktop mode, desktop pc in big picture as it is connected to a tv.

L
Lae · October 14, 2024

on a handheld when just playing i prefer big picture however if i need to do some file tinkering or editing engine.ini files to make things run better i prefer desktop mode

M
Miggwilson · October 14, 2024

I prefer the Steam Desktop honestly. Use Big Picture rarely.

P
Printer of time · October 14, 2024

I'm planning to make a PC that boots directly into big picture, for tv, I really like the feature please don't remove it, rather enhance it

P
Primoboiii · October 14, 2024

If I'm at my desk the desktop but on my handheld big picture

N
Nathan VanDerWerff · October 14, 2024

Depends. I have some games I prefer mouse and keyboard so I use desktop. But I also have game that I play with controller and steams api so I use big picture for them.

S
SubZeroPT · October 14, 2024

Big Picture. I have my PC connected to my TV through an HDMI cable, so Big Picure is great to use my PC as a gaming console.

C
Cripta dos Clássicos · October 14, 2024

Desktop in 99% of the cases. Not super fond of Big Picture mode.

R
René · October 14, 2024

Exclusively big picture mode, literally the reason I got you

R
Rise · October 14, 2024

I voted big picture, but it all depends on case use. If I'm using my PC on my TV or handheld, it's big picture. But if I'm sitting at my desk, it's regular steam.

D
DAVID EVANS · October 14, 2024

Same here...

S
SedaSauce · October 14, 2024

i personally use Desktop. however when using steam link for remote play Big picture is a must

T
Thea Nyx Petersen · October 14, 2024

I would answer both, I use normal desktop when I'm at the pc, but big picture when I use moonlight/sunshine to play from my pc on my steamdeck for the extra "power"

V
Vagner Fernandes · October 14, 2024

Big picture on Ayaneo2

S
Simon H · October 14, 2024

Big Picture on my large screen 4k build, Desktop on my daily driver

N
NoizeMaykr · October 14, 2024

Big Picture on my Ally, desktop on my PC. That said, I use EmuDeck more on my Ally, even though it's installed on both.

N
Nier · October 14, 2024

Windows mainly desktop mode, depending on the game, big picture when I’m playing solo games or offline games.

M
MattyTooFace · October 14, 2024

I use Playnite instead of Steam Big Picture for my PC, if that's useful information at all for you.

E
EmuDeck · October 14, 2024

it is :)

R
Roy Hanks · October 14, 2024

Is gamescope or handheld mode considered Big Picture?

E
EmuDeck · October 14, 2024

gamescope is linux

W
Woolly · October 14, 2024

Big Picture Mode on my ROG Ally

J
John Smith · October 14, 2024

Big picture since my handheld screen is too small for desktop window navigation. Also great on the couch.

r
rafael pola Henriques · October 14, 2024

It Depends which System i use. when i use my Desktop PC i use steam Desktop bc habit. when i use my rog ally i use big picture Mode bc it is easier to use with a controller

M
Matt Novak · October 14, 2024

I only use Big Picture when I'm using Moonlight/Sunshine

R
Rihardslajerxxl Hards · October 14, 2024

I use desktop because i want to find some info or do something and then i HAVE to exit steam and that is not best for me i would like it to have feature just booting steam without closing windows explore.

J
Jeremy Kurowski · October 14, 2024

This.

J
Jackson · October 14, 2024

Big Picture on HTPC, but *vast* majority of the time Desktop on Desktop.

D
Damian Bushay · October 14, 2024

Big Picture

A
AztkSmooth · October 14, 2024

I only subscribed to used big picture mode by default when my legion go boots 🤣

B
Bjarte Odin Kvamme · October 14, 2024

Both, Desktop mode for Desktop, Big Picture mode for HTPC

S
SirLandry Does Gaming · October 14, 2024

Big Picture in my back living room and Steam Desktop everywhere else. Love Big Picture mode though! Basically turns my system into an Xbox on Roids.

N
Numb Skull Krew Entertainment · October 14, 2024

Please tell me decky loader is coming to windows! I have transversed many Linux distros and none of them work as well out of the box windows. The only thing windows is missing is decky plugins.

C
Chris Lockhart · October 14, 2024

Since I play mostly on the ally, I use regular desktop version as I have noticed that big picture increases the TDP

Z
Zain Ajam · October 14, 2024

For living room PC and Handheld PC, use big picture. For desktop or laptop computing, use desktop mode

H
HamFang · October 14, 2024

I voted Big Picture but I use both depending on the scenario. I use Big Picture with my HTPC in my living room for couch gaming, Legion Go, GPD Win Mini, and sometimes on my laptops. I use regular Steam on my desktops and laptops.

P
PC · October 14, 2024

I have a pc hooked up to my tv that boots to big picture but I assume that’s an edge case. On my desktop it’s regular steam mode.

E
EmuDeck · October 14, 2024

That's exactly my case :)

H
Harley Davidson · October 14, 2024

I voted for Big Picture, but I use it in both modes depending on if I'm sitting at my PC, or I'm in the living room.

K
Kovacs · October 14, 2024

I'm the in exactly the same boat as SardineCat above. Never use Big Picture on my desktop, but always on the ROG Ally or streaming to the Steam Link app on my TV.

C
Covarr · October 14, 2024

I only use Steam Desktop. When I do want a big picture type interface on my desktop, I typically use Playnite instead since it can access all my libraries not just Steam. But then, I also do that for a desktop interface most of the time unless I'm using Steam for library management or something.

C
Clint Call · October 14, 2024

Same as SardineCat

S
Stephen Smith · October 14, 2024

Both, just depends on how I'm playing and my mood, honestly!

K
Kvoo · October 14, 2024

I never use big picture mode, just the game mode on the Steam Deck. On PC it's always regular Desktop Mode

S
SardineCat · October 14, 2024

Hard to choose because on desktop i mainly use desktop mode and never use big picture mode. When I use my rog ally I always use big picture mode because it's easier to navigate

J
John Richmond · October 14, 2024

You stole my comment :). Same for me!
