PROJECT: I Can Make My Own Washi Tape
Actually, maybe this isn't washi tape? I think "washi tape" specifically means those strips of decorative paper with really, really weak glue, so you can reposition it on your paper without damaging either surface. This stuff that I made, it's kinda a "Stick it down perfectly the first time, 'cos this shit ain't coming up again- not without a fight' Tape.
Ingredients:
Fancy paper
Double-sided adhesive tape / sheet
Ruler
Xacto knife
So, you just stick your double-sided adhesive onto the back of your paper, right? Personally, I recommend doing this with a double-sided adhesive sheet, as opposed to the tape that I had to use, because it's way easier to do the slicing step on something that's wider than just a thin ol' strip.
Then sliz-ice your paper strip out, using your Xacto blade and ruler.
Pull off the adhesive's backing and voila! Go to town decorating your journal or scrapbook or what-the-fuck-ever!
This is me taping some plane tickets into my sketchbook/journal/life organizer.
The green smudgey marks behind the tickets is the reverse side of this marker illustration I made of one of my plums:
I teach myself how to do this kinda bullshit instead of learning how to do basic adult life skills, like taxes or triaging my inbox ¯\(ツ)/¯

Decorative as fuck! And honestly, I support doing this over adulting skills
TIL what washi tape is!
Nifty. I have a 3M low tack paper tape that might work well for repositioning.
😮💖✨ love it!! I do need to stop compulsively buying washi tape
Finding out what brings you joy in life, and packing the absolute maximum of those things into your limited time on this planet is one of the most important life skills - I am still trying to get better at it at 53 (o:
Let me tell you, that looks *much* more satisfying than triaging an inbox!
