Hi Everyone!!
FINALLY!!!!
Introducing the Great Stone Dragon!
Thank you all for being patient this month! This guy was in testing for SO long. I really wanted to get the ball socket for the wings to hold and the front legs stronger before releasing it.
I have included a WINGED and WINGLESS Version!
Huge THANK YOU to Admin Jazzy and the members of the Cinderwing Test Team for all their thorough testing! It was an amazing group effort!
I also had a ton of fun making this crazy paint file for you all! Please see the attached pictures for an example. Hope you enjoy it! :) MMU .3MF INCLUDED! The MMU file is for the Winged version, I did not have time to paint the wingless one.
IMPORTANT Printing Information:
"Stoney" has been tested between sizes 60% - 100%, with many types of filament, and on several different settings.
This dragon requires good tuning from your printer. The ball sockets should work 99% of the time but if you have issues, try scaling the wings up or down by a percent. The multicolor 3MF can be split to objects and not loose it's paint job as well should you need to do so!
Understand that different filaments do shrink/expand a bit and this can affect the final print tolerances.
This is a matching body type to the Wraithwing Dragon, where it prints with the neck down and front legs folded. Once off the print plate: snap up the neck, adjust out the front legs, and pop in the wings for a stunning stance! The wings move around in their socket and are poseable!
Please see the pictures attached for the RIGHT direction of the wings; if you try to open them the wrong way they will not hold in place.

Hello! What % can I print this up to? Looking to print as large as possible on the bambu p1s. Also curious if the wing issue has been resolved or if it's just a case by case basis? Thanks so much! Beautiful design!
60-100% is what I recommend and test but this one scales up above that well!
I wish this was fixed wasted so much time & filament trying to get the wings to fit and still no luck
I’m baffled by the lack of response. First time EVER with less than 5 star rating on Etsy (1000+ sales). This was even with my husband working on wings to prevent them from falling out.
Printed on my X1 Carbon and still have issues with the wings. In addition, the head does not stay snapped in after the kiddos pull it out once or twice. I tried on both the X1 and the Ender S1 and had duplicate issues. I think this is a cool design, but definitely needs an update.
Still having a wing issue. Wish I read the comments before printing. They fall right out. Don't want to waste filament messing around with scaling. No update yet, correct?
Did anyone figure out the correct sizing for the wings? I'm wanting to print another set that aren't too large, but I don't want to waste filament.
I'm really glad I'm not the only one having issues with the ball joint on this one. The first one I printed I used a silk filament, which broke when attempting to insert the wings. The second I used Bambu Lab basic filament and no problems, but as reported by others the socket seems really shallow and doesn't hold the ball part in place very well. There was another model similar to this one that didn't seem to have this problem. I love the model design, and I hope that a fix can be determined for it.
sadly i should have read the comment first before printing .. i got the wing in but with slight movement the wing just pop out.. any suggestion
Yes, first non-5 star rating on Etsy I’ve ever had because of this.
Hello, I believe I had signed up in May but am unable to locate the "MAY" download pack. Could you direct me to where I may find this? Thanks in advance PEACE ;)
one of my fav prints so far. its printing now (:
Is there any chance we can get the same coloring on the wingless version? I avoid the socket designs altogether, but I don't think I could ever color the wingless version to that same quality myself.
Is there any fixed for the wings yet? I am super sad that the wings snap. I cant sell this and break when a customer has it. I dont want to wast fillament again.
dang. i guess i should have checked comments. 10 hours printing just for the ball joints to immediately break and fall out. :( can there be like a separate replacement ball joint part to print so i can make it and just glue it into the hole that i now have on my dragon? Q.Q
it's a time & filament waster
Same issue as a lot of other people. Both wings and dragon printed at 100%, and the ball joints for the wings are a TIGHT, TIGHT fit. It takes very little movement for them to pop out. Trying to reprint wings at 96%, we'll see what happens.
So yeah, it takes 99% for me, but they still pop out. There's a real joint issue where there seems to be not enough depth to secure the wing. I'll wait for a fix before printing anymore.
I cannot get the wings to fit. Printed at 70%
I can't at 100% needs to be fixed
The ball joint on the dragon needs to be deeper. The wings pop out easily. Can we get a fix on this? I don't think scaling the wings will fix the issue.
I would recommend trying it, the sockets are the same as all previous socket designs in that they aren't very deep. If I make them deeper then they lose a lot of the posing. I am working on other solutions!
I am printing this at a 75% scale on my Bambu mini. It is looking good and almost done. Hopefully it turns out ok.
I printed mine at 70%, it looks great but I'm not sure if I'm just trying to put the wings on wrong or the ball joint is too big to go in all the way
I love the dragon. Absolutely amazing. My attempt was a over all fail :( Due to printer issues. Will try again today. But noticed the wing ball joint was much larger than the socket.(no way it was going to fit) Will try to scale the wings to 96% as mentioned in the a previous comment.
Unfortunately i needed to shrink the entire dragon down by 20% for it to fit on my print bed hopefully it will work
The only issue I just found after printing 5 was where the back leg loops attach to the body the part closest to the tail does not connect fully and is weak. I had a hind leg fall off on one of the multi coloreds when taking photos 😭. I sent an email for it to y'all I will be adding something to the ones I've already printed to strengthen them.
I'll keep an eye out thank you!
Beautiful to print. But the front legs and wings need some reinventing a little bit. It was tough to get the wings to stay in and spread them out. The legs keep popping off when directing them down so the model can stand up. I’ll glue them all in and Itl be a nice prop for my book shelf but that’s it
I agree. I didn't like the front legs. They come apart way too easily when putting the legs down to stand up. My product-tester (7yo son) did not like that feature.
22 hours of printing, got it all done, went to put in the wings and they snapped. Is there something I'm missing?
How exactly did they snap?
I printed mine at 100% / 100% and they went in snuggly using ISanmate Rainbow. Fantastic Model Tracy! Love this style. Its nice and heavy too feeling like good quality. Beautiful imagination!
Any chance of a colored version for the Wingless?
Maybe!
I printed my stone Dragon at 100% And the wings at 96% it worked out great
They should fit 4% difference
these dragons look great, but the wings are always a nightmare. there is just not enough layer adhesion on the ball socket to keep it from breaking easily. Any way to got a flat wing design instead of the folding wings.
We didn't really see any breakage during the testing phase but it can definitely be a weak point, particularly for silks. We recommend a minimum of 3 walls but maybe more would help in your case?
Tried to print this all weekend. It would get about half way through then mess up. Like it’s skipping a layer. I have used the repair method the program uses and it still does it. Redownloaded the file and sliced and tried again just for it to happen again. I really want to print this thing but I cannot get it to print for the life of me.
The model shouldn't need a repair, we took care of that before release.... Hmm could it be clogging or something?
Printed the multi color, printed perfectly... sockets work great if you just print the area from the sockets up, at 100 or slower to keep the dimensions accurate. The problem is people try to print this too fast so it changes the over all fit and effects the strength as well. Great work Cinderwing I'm impressed!
Is there a 3mf file for the wingless as well?
not at the moment!
guess I'm going wingless, the design is a PITA and the pictures hardly show it clearly, same as the other one
We'd be more then happy to help you troubleshoot! I did this one specifically on a wet silk to really push the limits of what the sockets can do! https://youtube.com/shorts/LR3DVw6MyZI
Thanks for the work on this. Before I've never had to use a glue stick with any of my Bambu printers, until now. This was a tough one. Several fails later I finally got a successful print using a glue stick.
The Discord community always recommend NEVER using glue for textured PEI! Just making sure its clean is usually enough! This dragon has more surface area touch then bed then most of my other dragons
More ball and socket issues. I'm sorry, but scaling by 1-2% isn't going to solve this. Unless you scale the wings separate from the body. The rest of the dragon is beautiful.
Yes that's correct, this is why we have included a body, and separate wing STLS .
great dragon it looks amazing. However i would have liked a longer tail X
Noted!
Just pulled mine off the plate. No issues. Love Love Love!!!!
Also this reminds me of the dragon statues in Spyro
Ball sockets are too shallow and do not "pop" in place. Please release an updated model with better a mended ball sockets connection. Solid dragon, wish I could make it work.
Please make sure you read the full post, as it states we cannot account for all tolerances for the socket. If you are having issues please with it being to big, bringing the wings down a percent or two, or adjusting your filaments flow is the answer 99% of the time. The model is fine as is 💕
I have to say . Your dragon designs make me look good. They are easy to print and look awesome. love your designs keep up the good work.
Just got one wingless one off the printer! Came out beautiful!
Mine broke not impressed after printing
Please make sure you fully read the post! Particularly if you are having issues! The ball sockets are NOT going to be perfect for everyone. You may need to adjust or tune for the best fit.
One ball socket broke immediately & the one that does fit barely fits almost like the socket is too shallow. Still a beautiful design.
I was talking to my girlfriend when this came on screen and couldnt finish. This is so amazing
Having issues with the wings staying in the socket.
Same:(
Looks amazing!
Just Printed it and Must say, gotta be the Most awesome Thing i‘ve printed so far, love him!!
Also printed 2 wingless and the neck barely snaps into the body
This is absolutely AMAZING !!
I printed the winged version full plate and I can't clip the wings on (they don't fit), I will try to print them at 95% and see if it works.
Please let us know if that works. Just got one off the printer and had issues. I still have two others on. Praying one of them works. It is such a cool design. Fingers crossed.
These look amazing. I can't wiat to print one
It looks amazing!!! I would loved to have a version with a longer tail - those ones looks pretty short 🙈
I love the upright pose!! I would love to see more this style in the future!
Can't wait to print these in some stone and marble colors.
I'm clapping but you can't hear it, just know I'm clapping right now ;D
WOW!!! so worth the wait. I can't wait to print it!!!
This is Awesome!!!!!
OMG! This is worth the wait! He’s AMAZING!!! Thank you!!! 🤩
Thank You For This. I understand you are very busy and did not have the time. Is there any chance that a painted version of of the wingless can come sometime later? Again Thanks

Love Love Love it <3
This is seriously amazing!
This is seriously gorgeous. Is this intense with the poop? Trying to decide which filaments to use right now!
It won’t be if you adjust filament purge settings and add purge objects
This one looks impressive! Thank you!
Wow he's so cool
WOW! this is amazing!!!
Can't wait to print one!
Evolution of the dragons?!?
It started with the Wraithwing and I hope to improve this body to make new things!
Very nice, indeed!
Whoa. This is amazing! (I used a different phrase, but I won't say it here because language.) I am so glad I'm getting a Bambu printer on Wednesday! I think this might be the first thing I print with it!
Was I the only one who read this in Mushus voice?? Love this BTW!
Oooo that’s nice <3
WOW! Can’t wait to start this one! The multi-material painting on it looks especially great.
