This year's plan (or lack thereof ;) )
OK then, there wasn't a runaway winner in the recent poll ...though both the 'no set plan' and 'something else' options did squeeze ahead.
However, to muddy the waters slightly, the comments for the 'something else' votes also leaned towards the 'dungeon decor' option - so despite having no votes itself, it's still one of the available choices.
As such, I've been weighing up my options over the weekend, and I think this is how I'm going to start off the year.
1) Each month I'll reserve 3 or 4 tiles for myself ...and I'll use these to begin work on a cave tile set. This will allow me to start work on something at the beginning of each month (i.e. while awaiting any suggestions), and means that I can spread out the releases ...and don't have to rush everything at the end of the month :)
2) The remaining tiles will be up for discussion as normal. However, these could be 'feature rooms' for the dungeon, 'feature caverns' for the cave tiles, 'dungeon decor' pieces (i.e. some of the stuff that appears in the existing rooms, converted into placeable objects), and so on.
3) If I'm really inspired to draw something else that month (perhaps it's something I'll need myself for an upcoming game ...like the Troll Hole map I did a while back -OR- as a result of someone's request ...similar to the recent Throne Room tiles for example) then I'll do that instead.
So, as you can see, it's a bit of a mutable plan ...and one that will provide a variety of tiles/assets :) - but I wanted to give you all a rough idea of what you can expect each month, while at the same time setting myself a few goals.
Anyway, I hope that sounds like a reasonable compromise (considering how the voting went), and since I've almost finished the first 4 cave tiles, I'll post them a little later on today (so that you can see how they'll look).
So, as always, thank you for your support, and here's to another year here on Patreon ...CHEERS!
