Aleksandra Glushko, 97, was a teenager when she was taken from Ukraine to ghettoes and internment camps in the eastern European country and then on to Auschwitz in Poland. She managed to survive in the death camp for more than three years until she was liberated by the Soviet army.

Having survived the Nazi death camps, Aleksandra Glushko embarked on a mission to educate others about the horrors she had witnessed and endured. Here she talks about her time in Majdanek, Auschwitz as well as her encounter with the angel of death, Josef Mengele.

Glushko is now one of the last remaining Auschwitz survivors.
