NOT taking down this page!
Hey peeps,
The reaction to the last post surprised me -- tbh I was expecting just sort of a "meh." I hadn't realized that so many people were supporting me here without expecting anything in return, and it was heartwarming to read all of your responses. :]
I also hopped on a call with Tracy from Patreon, and she showed me some examples of pages that execute the whole "tip jar" thing well, as well as some ways to integrate this site into the places where I currently post. I'll rework this page to better fit that model, but will leave it up. As an added bonus, this will also allow me to continue pledging to the other creators.
Thank you all for your patronage, and your encouragement!
~Shen

Yay!!! Love you Shen!
Glad to hear this.
YAY!!!! THANK YOU!!
Yay! I'm really glad.
You helped me through rough times dude, I'm down to help you anytime
I follow you mostly on social media. From there I intentionally looked for a way to donate to support you. Thanks for letting me give the little I can, but if it helps I'm happy you taking it. GL and good work.
And in fact, I'm grateful you were so open about your guilt around having the Patreon in the first place, because now you can be reaffirmed in all the amazing support we have for you, without needing anything extra in return!
YES! I am very very happy to read this!
Wonderful!
Huzzah! Thank you so much for sticking through with it, can't wait to see more from you going forward!
Yay!!! Awesome!!! Thanks Shenpai! 😁😁😁😁😁😁😇😇😇
Yay! That's awesome dude, thanks for continuing allowing us a place where we can support you directly! You can count on my continued support, for as long as I can :D.
Yes! I am so relieved! I think I already said it, but I really like the idea of supporting you, so thanks a lot for this decision!
:')
Good call! Also: some creators have been (for reasons I may be oblivious to) considering platforms other than Patreon. My suggestion: please don't (or don't leave Patreon if you do). I can understand the risks with de-facto monopolies for an ecosystem, but I also believe that, until Scott McCloud's vision of micro-payments as a widespread tool for enabling comics (and arts in general, if I may add to it) becomes a reality, fragmentation could really make them unfeasible (case in point: newspapers and magazines, who can't establish such a model because they can't agree on a platform that simplifies support, like Patreon does for comics).
Good choice!!! I love ur comics and since I can't fund it right now (since I don't have a credit card yet) I would love to support it when I can in the future. Good luck in everything you do and hope you keep a smile on all our faces. (sry to ask, but when's LWYS coming back, I can't wait)
Hurray \o/
Yay!!! You've been cracking me up for years, and I'm glad you're sticking around Patreon. <3
