I want to get started in designing games. I'm good enough artist to get ideas across, I think I'm a great writer and have good ideas. I have programming knowledge. Where should I start?
I didn't know you were in gamedev too! What do you do? I'm a UI programmer also in the industry 😄
Similarly to the judge raven, im no artist, but i dabble in the writing arts. So my completely unrelated question is what did you use to code the games?
What methods do you use to get through periods where you feel uninspired or you're just not excited for what you're working on in that moment? To clarify, I know a lot people go through cycles where they get excited for an idea and that gets them through the initial hurdles, but the slog of the "middle" to get to the end can feel insurmountable or worse, feel like "work". Do you have this issue and what do you do to get through it?
When making Swords: Cut the Deck, what helped you develop and balance the gameplay the most?
How do you personally feel about the here-to-stay trend of content creators creating their own tabletop games? I've seen recent ones with stuff like CircletoonsHD creating Fool's Blade, Muffin Time (with Big Potato) from TomSka and most recently, NPC Rivals from Viva La Dirt League.
It's a bit hard to comment on without knowing what comes next. CircletoonsHD just fired a bunch of animators. Does that mean another board game? Is that the new business focus? Boardgames have a much higher success rate for a delivered outcome than video games on Kickstarter; but companies that keep spending their budget on the next Kickstarter before delivering the last one got tripped up pretty hard when tariffs started happening. It's probably not a bad thing to have more options, or some healthy competition.
As you create your video game, do you find it constraining to fit it with certain characters, or is it freeing to know you have a guide for how things should go?
What was an unexpected obstacle you found creating your comic, card games and videogame?
