A Little Qwest | One Page RPG Prototype v0.0.1

People seemed to vibe on the idea of a Quest-Sprout-centric mini RPG, so I have put together the first draft of one.

Feel free to leave feedback, ideas for the remaining Plot Twists and tales of how it went if you try it out. I'll be happy to expand upon this with a few more pages if this untested prototype reveals itself to be fun.

I've made this available to everyone.

Ideas for next time:

  • If rolling up enemies feels bad, I might change it to a Point Buy system or work on better balancing. I'm sure some people feel that giving the Quest Master finite resources is a creative restraint, but please try both ways so we can make fair comparisons.

  • If creating obstacles is a chore, I can make a Roll or Point Buy system for that. Possibly a few charts for different biomes.

  • Adding items for the Heroes to carry seems like a good idea, so your Hero can evolve across multiple qwests.

  • I can add more stats if these don't cover enough dramatic ground.

  • Some pre-made heroes like Quest Sprout 3/2/2, Pest Sprout 2/1/4, Kutty Cat 2/3/2, etc. - Feel free to weigh in on that too.

  • More detailed outlines of each playable race.

I hope that if you decide to give this a spin, that you enjoy it!

Very cool start, also in Quests V. it says GM instead of QM

When trying an action vs an enemy, is it the stat you are rolling vs their same stat and rolling? Like if you were trying to do a charm thing to defuse, it would be against the enemy's charm? Bravery against bravery, toughness against toughness? Or is it against whatever the qm feels is appropriate?

I mean that it's said for an action with the environment, but with the enemies having stats, I'm not sure where they factor in

It might help to clarify how bravery and toughness are used, because the words are conceptually similar. Another plot twist could be a nighttime quest that reduces bravery as it gets darker.

I would disagree that they are too similar that you can't distinguish them. If we take a real life concept of a brave old lady in a wheelchair and a tough gym bro it's clear how they are different.

That looks awesome!
