Ren, September 2024

I think I first met Ren about six years ago.

At the time, we were simply people who happened to go to the same SM bar. I would see her there from time to time, but we had never really spoken. Then the pandemic began, I stopped going to the bar, and I stopped seeing her altogether.

About five years passed. Through a series of twists and turns, I eventually found myself photographing Ren on a regular basis.

These photographs were taken during our second shoot together, in September 2024.

Now, nearly two years have passed since we reconnected. Over that time, Ren has become one of the most important people in my work. In fact, it would be difficult to imagine my activity as a kinbaku photographer without her.
