One More Thing: The Grifter
Greetings Adventurers,
We're back to our normally scheduled One More Things at the end of the month and this is one that I'm pretty excited to release. I had been wanting to write a kind of magic swindler for some time now as I've had some card mechanics kicking around in my head. It's been something that I wanted to put onto (digital) paper for some time, so I'm glad we finally found the right concept for it!

Design notes from Matthew:
One of the harder parts of designing creatures and items and so on that people don't really talk about is knowing when you are done and not overdesigning something. I struggled with this especially when we started making creatures because I would have 10 cool ideas for the creature but no one is trying to run something that complicated. This is the first one in awhile that I struggled with knowing when I was done on.
I had a lot of ideas involving card throwing, redraws, shifting boons to allies and a lot of other options that could have been really fun to include. What I do with those is basically put them in a document of mechanics to revisit later on and possibly use in something else. It's my little mechanics bag of goodies that I reach into when ideas are slower to come or if I'm just busier and need to execute something quicker.
I guess what I'm advocating for is making sure that you're not letting those ideas rot. If you have the time to write out the mechanics when you think of them, do so and keep them for later on. You'll be glad to did when you're thinner on the idea front later on. At least that's how my brain chooses to operate!
