🎃 September Progress Report – The Final Report Before Chapter 3!

Hi friends!

It's time for another Not a Succubus progress report—and barring any unexpected delays, this should be the last one before the new update releases! 🎉

At this point, I'm fairly confident that we can finish the update by October 20th.

Of course, unexpected things can always happen during development—an emergency, someone on the team suddenly becoming unavailable, etc. (knock on wood)—so I don't want to call October 20th an absolute guarantee just yet.

But as things currently stand, October 20th is the date we're aiming for.

So yes, consider this our big Halloween Update! 🎃👻

With the release schedule out of the way, let's go over everything you can expect.

👩 7 New Guests + 1 New Special Character

You've already met most of them through our weekly character reveals, but Chapter 3 will introduce 7 brand-new Guests and 1 new Special Character.

That's a pretty massive expansion to the current cast, and each comes with their own personality, clues, interactions, and scenes.

And, of course, you'll have to figure out who you can actually trust. 👁️

👣 New Inspection Scenes for EVERYONE

This update introduces FJ inspections, alongside new HJ and BJ scenes.

And we didn't just make these for the newcomers.

Every guest—new AND old—is getting FJ, BJ, and HJ inspection scenes.

This is a huge part of why Chapter 3 has taken us so long to make. We've essentially been creating new content not only for Chapter 3's cast, but also going back and expanding the characters you've already met.

😈 New Temptation Scenes

We're also adding many more temptation scenes.

And I want to clarify something here, because I've noticed quite a few players misunderstand how this mechanic works:

A character having a temptation scene does NOT mean she's a succubus.

Whether a guest tries to tempt the MC depends primarily on her personality, not whether she's human or a succubus.

Personality is an important part of the deduction system in Not a Succubus. If a flirtatious or sexually aggressive character tries something with you, that might be perfectly normal for her.

But if someone who's normally shy or reserved suddenly starts acting completely out of character?

That's when you might want to start asking questions. 👀

Pay attention not just to physical signs, but to whether a guest's words and behavior are consistent with the person you've gotten to know.

Between the new inspections, temptation scenes, and everything else we're adding, this update will contain more new H-scenes than Chapters 1 and 2 combined.

💕 Special Guest Scenes

Some guests are also getting additional scenes that aren't tied directly to inspections.

If you spend enough time chatting with certain characters and getting closer to them, you may unlock special scenes with them.

So on top getting more clues, you get rewarded with new unlockable h scenes— totally worth stopping by for a conversation. 👀

👁️ Stories Continue

We're also continuing the questlines for special characters like Binky, Lilith, Agent 69, etc. while introducing new ones. Bringing you another step closer to their respective special endings.

You won't be able to reach those endings in Chapter 3—their stories are intended to continue across future chapters, and you probably won't see their final conclusions until much later in the game.

But your choices now will continue moving those storylines forward.

📓 Quality-of-Life Improvements

We've also made quite a few improvements to the game itself.

One of the biggest is the Notebook system we've talked about previously, which should make keeping track of characters, clues, and information much easier.

We've also been fixing various issues with the game's systems.

For example, we've fixed the problem where a newly admitted guest could sometimes be attacked before the MC even had an opportunity to talk to her.

There are plenty of other smaller improvements and fixes throughout the update as well.

🌏 Chinese, Japanese & Korean Support

Localization has officially made its way into the game!

Chapter 3 will introduce support for:

🇨🇳 Simplified Chinese
🇯🇵 Japanese
🇰🇷 Korean

However, there's one important caveat:

For this release, translations will only be complete through the end of Chapter 2.

This is my first time implementing multiple languages into one of my games, and it has caused... quite a few unexpected bugs. 😅

I've fixed everything I've found so far, but there's always a chance something slipped through.

If you encounter a localization-related problem, try switching the game back to English and restarting it. And please report the issue to me through Patreon or Discord so I can get it fixed!

We'll continue expanding the translations alongside future updates.

🎙️ Voice Acting Through Chapter 2

And finally, voice acting!

As I've been teasing over the past several weeks, we've gone back and added voice acting throughout Chapters 1 and 2.

Because voice acting is expensive and our budget is still limited, Not a Succubus isn't becoming a completely voiced game. Some scenes are fully voiced, while others use partial voice acting.

Still, I think it adds a ton of personality to the cast, and I'm really happy with how our actresses have brought these characters to life.

🎃 The Final Stretch

So that's where we are!

This month, I've personally spent a lot of time implementing the new voice acting and localization, while also writing the scripts for the enormous number of new H-scenes going into this update.

And let me tell you...

Writing all those scenes is a lot more work than it sounds. 😭

But we're finally approaching the finish line. So, I might be cancelling the weekly updates for October, since I could be using that time to work on the game.

We're almost there.
