🎮 Game Proposals: Read Carefully, Pick One!
Hey everyone!
Recently, a friend of mine approached me with an idea: what if we made a game together?
>Before anyone worries—this would not replace or slow down my Spicy Pumpkin games, our next game will still be Midnight Carnival. This partnered game will release alongside our other games.<
My friend would be handling a large portion of the development work, while I continue working on my own projects as usual. Not a Succubus is still my priority.
We're currently considering three very different types of games, and since you guys would ultimately be the people playing it, I want to know which one interests you the most.
⚔️ 1. Tactical SRPG
Think Advance Wars / Wargroove: turn-based tactical battles, units, maps, positioning, progression, etc.
This is actually the genre he's most confident in making, and tactical games have a pretty dedicated audience, especially among English-speaking players.
The downside? It's by far the most expensive option to make properly.
So there's one important caveat to this poll: if SRPG wins, but our available budget hasn't grown enough by the time NAS is finished, we may have to go with the second-place option instead.
🌍 2. Strategy / SLG
Think games like Romance of the Three Kingdoms, Nobunaga's Ambition, Uncharted Waters, or older grand-strategy games.
This would focus much more on management, expansion, decision-making and interacting with a larger world rather than individual tactical battles.
Of the three options, this would be the cheapest and easiest for us to develop, which means we could put together a fairly substantial game without requiring an enormous budget.
The biggest challenge would be finding the right setting and concept. Strategy players tend to know exactly what they like, so we'd need a theme interesting enough to stand out.
👻 3. 2D/3D Horror
The final possibility is a horror game, the Spicy Pumpkin special.
We already have plenty of material and ideas that could work for this, and technically we could even make it in 3D. The scope would need to stay relatively contained, but visually and technically this would probably be the most impressive of the three options.
For 3D, we're imagining something closer to the style and scope of the original Resident Evil rather than trying to make some enormous modern AAA horror game.
A 2D Japanese-style horror game is another possibility, although that's much harder for us to predict.
⚠️ VERY IMPORTANT: This would NOT be an R18 game.
I want to emphasize this because I know exactly what most of you expect when you hear "Spicy Pumpkin is making another game." 😂
>My partner is only comfortable making softcore sexual content.<
So while the game may still contain fanservice, suggestive themes, attractive characters, sexual humor, or other spicy elements depending on what we ultimately make, do NOT vote expecting a traditional Spicy Pumpkin adult game.
There will not be explicit R18/NSFW sexual content like you would find in Succubus Pandemic or Not a Succubus.
I would much rather make that clear now than have people vote for a genre while imagining an R18 version of it that we're not actually planning to make.
And don't worry: this does NOT mean Spicy Pumpkin is moving away from adult games. My own projects will continue as usual. This would simply be a separate collaboration and an opportunity for us to experiment with something different.
So, with all of that in mind...
Which would you most like to play?
Vote for the game you would genuinely be most interested in playing—even knowing that it won't be R18.
I'm very curious to see where everyone lands!

Are all the games exclusively for PC?
Horror is your thing pumpkin i know you will do a great job
Personally, I really like defeating and conquering monsters - it gives players that sense of achievement. Actually, all three types of gameplay are pretty good (I voted for the third one). It really depends on how you approach it. Obviously, Spicy Pumpkin loves hearing player feedback, which is why I've been following him all along.
tyty, please continue to give me your feedback in the future. I appreciate it :)
I love ADULT tacticals, but since I'd want to feel something when I play, psycho horror has my non-adult vote.
I mean, ask yourself what the goal for the game is, before anything else. From the looks of it, it doesn't sound like it'll perform in terms of player engagement if it's mostly a solo-developer working on it, and it's one of the 2 non-horror niche genres mentioned, and it won't be adult content either. So if your purpose is to have them work on the game, and for you to sort of "shill" the game here in your patreon, I don't think it'd be necessarily well received either, as it isn't really in align with what the audience is typically used to seeing here. If the goal is to genuinely release a non-adult game, with a solo-developer working on it, with those 3 as your options, the best here is objectively the 2d/3d horror.
Thanks for your take. He's a lot more experienced in programming than I am, and we both have resources, so the game won't look too bad. It's just a side project, I don't need it to do very well or anything.
I wanna be scared and horny!
Would the tactical or strategy game in those two options might have any wholesome romance? Is that something your friend is comfortable working on? I still voted because I’m looking forward to it regardless 😁
Yes, there will be romance
Tactical could have an XCOM vive to it? Or it would be more like fire emblem?
Like XCOM, thanks for voting
