Lynn Baker · April 28, 2026

ps another rec for Sunshine (2007). and I want to recommend From (show) but it's horror, though some of the best character work I've seen in awhile and I know you love strong characters so it's worth considering! just maybe watch with every light on in the house.

J
Jules & Kev Morrissey · April 28, 2026

Our recommendations .... Show - Inside No 9 Dark Humour, 30 min episodes which are mostly unrelated to each other, with superb twist endings. Movie - Last Night in Soho Superb dark thriller, beautifully filmed.

Omg I'm so excited to see a reaction to Silver Linings Playbook. It's one of my favourite movies! I am procrastinating on studying for the LSAT. I have a BA in Law, Policy & Government, and I want to take a part-time Master's of Law program, one geared towards senior professionals without Juris Doctorate degrees (lawyers). But I need to start studying for the LSAT and apply to this program for a Winter 2027 start date. Procrastination, oh boy.

I've been really loving Heated Rivalry lately, so that's definitely a recommendation, even though it maybe doesn't fully fit in with the shows you usually do :D but it's an amazing one for sure and I haven't gotten it out of my head for a whole month now. Also The Pitt. I never really watched medical shows and probably never will, but The Pitt is the one exception. It's done so well and they have a really cool concept in my opinion (basically the first season is 15 episodes that follows a 15 hour shift more or less in real time).

K
Kim D · April 27, 2026

How scary is it though? Genuinely interested as I don't like a lot of horror stuff - couldn't get through The Haunting of Hill House and you couldn't pay me to watch The Exorcist - but that show does appeal to me. I like vampire stuff and zombie stuff and psychological thriller type things

K
Kim D · April 27, 2026

Movie recs - Love, Simon which is a 2018 teen drama/romance/comedy about a closeted gay teen. It's incredibly heartwarming. They made it into a show after cos it did so well, but I'm only recommending the movie. Before Sunrise which is just a beautiful romance. It's part of a trilogy but watch it first and see what you think. It's not like watching people acting at all, you feel like you're just spying on a perfect first date. And finally Booksmart which is a 2019 comedy that's just great fun. TV shows - it has to be The Newsreader. I know Raymond has been at you about it and for good reason! It's just brilliant - the writing, the acting, the characters, the way it depicts issues like sexism, racism and homophobia in the 80s. I've watched it 4 times already and I never get bored of it. Anna Torv and Sam Reid are incredible in it - and so are the entire supporting cast tbh. So yeah, highly recommend The Newsreader 🙂 Weekly question - a work exam that's now in less than 2 weeks and I still haven't cracked a book for it.

Weekly Question: Cleaning my deck. My landlord had it rebuilt with some kind of high-end tropical hardwood in 2021. It was so pretty! For the first few years, I’d clean and scrub it in the Spring to keep it nice and new (I live in the pacific Northwest, where we get a lot of rain and wind storms in the fall/winter) but for the last couple of years, I’ve totally neglected it and rarely even swept the thick layers of pine needles and branches that fell on it. I got it swept and kind of scrubbed with a push broom but now it needs a whole different kind of cleaning and I keep putting off researching what to do with it.

S
Senobia · April 26, 2026

Recs: Invasion (aliens and follows various ppl throughout the planet), Mr. Robot (I will always recommend this one), It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia (Probably my favorite show of all time. These ppl aren't likeable. 17 seasons and they are still killing it. There was a scene from their latest season that legit had me laughing so hard that I was fully crying. They said that whenever Danny Devito is done is when they are done with the show and he isn't yet.), The Goldbergs (a goofy 80s family that will make you Crack up. Really the first few seasons are the best ones and that first season was perfection.), 1917 (if you haven't seen it yet. It's a movie made to look like a one shot and they do it beautifully. It's a small part of WWl. Probably one of my favorite movies.), Extraction 1 and 2 (Awesome movies and the one shot in 1 is great but in 2 it lasts about 20 minutes.), Of course, The Nice Guys. A lot of recs for the polls. I have been procrastinating reading the book that's been out for over 2 yrs in my favorite series because I know it will hurt me and the writing is exceptional but I'm scared and will for sure cry my eyes out multiple times and I am not ready.
