Andy is def sooooooo trash

I was frankly shocked when I found this out recently, but Ron Perkins, the guy who plays Leslie’s date in the finale was 48 when they shot it.

I think people say 1 & 2 are bad because the rest of the series is so freaking good. I was hooked on this show immediately and loved the first two seasons but when I rewatched, I didn't think they were as good. Season 3 and on set such a high bar, that they made me retroactively think less of the earlier seasons. Some of your favorite characters are yet to come, whether they haven't been introduced or haven't gotten enough airtime. Once season 3 hits, you'll want to watch it all it one night!

I think you are going to LOVE the next seasons, especially the second half of season 2. This season is a bit too close to The Office for me.

Season 1 in the can- yay! As others have mentioned, Parks & Rec gets off to a slow and somewhat cringey start here. Amy Poehler is just the GOAT and as far as I'm concerned, Chris Pratt peaked in this comedic role. As the devoted spouse of a long-time/part-time musician and full-time social worker, I can relate well to Frank's commentary about supporting loved ones with musical aspirations. Bearing witness to the Philly-area music scene and bands/artists at varying levels of success over the past 2 decades has been a trip. So in true supportive spouse fashion: shout out to bass players, the partners who love them, the amazing band Thunderbird Divine and the incredible musical artist Nia Primus! (Feel free to Google). ;)

'Three Skin, just the tip' is a wild band name but also reminded me about a story of my dad. He used to be in a band way back when. On the Rez another name for Native members is Skins. My dad's band consisted of four members and was named The Four Skins. 💀

Yeah Amy Poehler completely carried the first season. I did Not remember that comment Tom made about her boobs, wow. Aziz Ansari was pretty popular back then but I always found Tom annoying. This show makes me so nostalgic. Not that the US government has ever been great, but the difference between then and now is staggering.

I truly cant wait for more! Finally rewatched season 1 with you, and I agree. It wasnt as bad as I remember 🥰 definitely just not as good as later seasons, but still enjoyed it so much. You can see the bare bones!

You don’t know how much my heart fills, watching you experience all these characters for the first time. I’m so goddamn excited. The first season is NOT bad. I think people just look back on it as the least good of the series, so that’s just a way to contextualize this. I remember reading somewhere that Amy Poehler said if Mark had responded to her question by saying “you absolutely will build this park!” And hadn’t then said “it’s not that big a deal” that she would have slept with him that night

I forgot how lame and annoying all the men are in season one 😭 It’s like you can see the outline of it all, but it’s missing the color—but almost every show is like that. Only really rare ones are hits right off the bat, especially ones from a decade or more ago when pilots were still soft launches and tepid. I’ll be eager to hear your thoughts on Season 2 and the firming and different strokes of their characters as they’re filled in. So excited!

The scene where Leslie discovers she’s been set up on a date with an inappropriately aged partner was so good. Poehler played the scene with the right mix of bitterness and pathos.

Having watched P&R through many times, the stuff you loved about Leslie and the stuff that made you laugh - lets me know that you are going to love this show. Her physical comedy, and the little things she does with her face - amazing.

If you liked the first season you're in for a treat, it only gets better and better!
