I have a humble request about shows/movies for future watches🙏🏽(I'm REPOSTING this 'cause it's relevant)

I've noticed something recently that I want to address. When I'm starting a new show/movie, and you're not interested in it or don't like it. I would like to not know about it. Those comments and statements might have a chance to taint some of my views before even embarking on the show/movie. Let me decide for myself. No matter how mentally reinforced you are, we're human; negative thoughts seep in sometimes. I might really, really enjoy something you don't find interesting or straight-up bad. I would really appreciate this the same way I appreciate not having spoilers of any kind.

It's different if you're dropping a trigger warning or something you're concerned about me encountering. I appreciate that so greatly, and it makes me feel cared for. But if it's just how much you dislike something or how uninteresting it is to you, truthfully, I don't know how much that helps me, especially when the majority of the members voted for that. Like, what is the alternative? Do I cancel reacting to that show after people have voted on it? I'm not trying to censor your voice. It's important to voice out things we don't like. However, in this context of me reacting to something I haven't watched before, it doesn't help me much.

I hope this is not coming off as aggressive, but this has happened more times than I would like. And I've said multiple times that I already do some spoiler-free research on all these shows before they even arrive on the poll. Making sure that I am at the very least ok with them. On the off chance that I start watching something that I don't like or don't find interesting, please trust that I will be honest, and I'll let you guys know. I doubt you guys would want to see me continue watching something I don't enjoy.

As yall know, I love communicating with you so we can coexist better. I'd love to hear what y'all have to say about this as well.

Love🤟🏽

All valid, Frank. I can def be opinionated (as if you haven't noticed -- lol), but since you mentioned this once before, I have been careful to avoid negative comments. That being said ... and this is no one's issue but mine ... my psyche is such that if anyone makes a comment to a large group about doing something they don't like or doing something wrong, I ALWAYS think they're talking to me. This was an issue at work when my boss would send emails about stuff, knowing he was only talking to a couple people, and I'd spiral going over and over if I did something wrong. It's a childhood thing, but doing something that upsets someone or that "gets me in trouble," is a huge trigger for me. So PLEASE if I do make a mistake, call me out directly in a DM. And if I have done it, I sincerely apologize. 🙏 Thanks for coming to my therapy session.

Your request and feelings are valid, Frank. You don't come across aggressive, nor do I feel censored. I strive hard to not be negative in my own life and I hope my comments here with you have not been. I know I do leave opinions on characters at times and perhaps sometimes about their negative behavior. I know I can be very enthusiastic recommending a show/movie I've enjoyed. Not sure I've mentioned those I did not enjoy or interested in viewing again. Please....always feel free to let me know when/if I cross a line.

Actually, thank you very much for mentioning this Franklin... cuz this has caused some uncomfortable feelings at times. It happens on FoxTaco's channel, too and it really can make people feel negative and lousy. The negative comments can make the people who are excited about a show feel bad...they feel awkward, embarrassed, or guilty for liking the show -- and it starts a whole negative chain reaction of badness. It's sad for Taco, too (I don't know if it influences his opinion, but it seems awkward for him that people are immediately complaining about the show he picked). It sucks for us too (as fans of the 'offending' show) to be excited about a show and then people have already torn up the comments section -- making fans feel lousy for liking a show that apparently they "shouldn't". Personally, if I don't like a show, I will give my opinion rarely and only BEFORE the show is chosen while its being pondered (during the time when suggestions/opinions are being solicited...but even then very briefly and with very little detail...such as "i kept getting distracted during this show" or "it's really complicated"... is that too negative to say before the show is put on a poll?). But, once a show is chosen and the reactions begin, if I don't like a show, I stay out of the comments section...because why would anyone wanna hear me gripe about the show they're excited to watch? In times like these, nobody needs extra buzz-kill vibes. We all need every bit of positivty we can get. Thanks again, Franklin. 🙏❤😇

Valid reaction, and honestly I’d hate it too if people were criticizing a show before I even had the chance to watch it

Perfectly reasonable request Frank. It's like when people hype up a movie or show too much - that usually puts me off watching it sometimes. Can also lead to my expectations being too high and then I'm disappointed. Happened with Alien and The Shawshank Redemption for me. I was expecting so much

100% valid. Sometimes negative comments can warp your perception of the show/movie too so general disliking aside it really can affect a reaction!

Okay, but if you ever watch “Mesa of Lost Women,” don’t say you weren’t warned about that guitar. 🎸 😀

IDK there are shows that I was never able to get past certain episodes until I started watching them here or with Taco. Same with movies. There's always the option for us to just not watch or give them another chance. Very valid request.

I don’t think you’re coming off as too aggressive at all! This is your channel/your Patreon, and you’re within your right to let us know how to engage with you.

I try keep my mouth shut in general at this point unless I have something good to say. I can be way overly critical/analytical and then afterwords I'll realize it added nothing of value and wish I had just stfu, I'll often give shows I wasn't that into another watch when a reactor I dig is going through it just to see if it hit me wrong at the time or if the new eyes shows me something I missed. Otherwise I just shut the fuck up and let Frank or anyone else seeing it for the first time make their own mind up.

How you feel is perfectly reasonable in my eyes! I don't know what it is, but I've noticed a deterioration of fandom etiquette in the last few years. In reaction channel comment sections, and even people being unnecessarily critical of fanfic or fanart in the comment section of those creators' posts. I've been active in fandom spaces for nearly 2 decades now and it always existed as a rarity, but now I feel like I see it everywhere. When people are being kind enough to create content, essentially for free (especially with posts on platforms like Youtube, Insta, Tumblr, etc), there's no need to bring negativity into a space like that. It's not like you're submitting things to a publishing house to be edited, you're creating us content for us to enjoy. "Don't Like, Just Scroll" really needs to come back in vogue.

This is completely valid. Especially for something you haven't watched because we all have different tastes and I dont think thats hard to understand. I'm glad you said something

I would love to see you react to yellowjackets! It’s really good and they’re filming the last season right now. I pretty much love everything you react to though, so I’m down for anything :)
