Athena & ??? Part 1 - Early access
Do you have something ridiculously trivial that gets under your skin?
Personally, I can take someone calling my art dumb, ugly, or cringe. But tell me my pancakes suck? Now THAT would hurt. 😂
For Athena, it’s clearly weaving.
If you know the myth, you probably already know who “???” is. For everyone else, I hope you’ll enjoy discovering the story (or at least my version of it 😁) !
As I mentioned in my previous post, I spent the last few months getting a little too lost in my own head, trying to figure out too many things at once.
This comic is the result of that time. I wanted to try something new: a multi-part story instead of my usual standalone comics, while still posting weekly.
The whole story is already written and storyboarded, so now I just need to make it! So far, the new process is working great, and I’m hopeful I’ll be able to put out comics more consistently over the coming months.
I’ll see how you guys respond to this format before deciding whether to tell the full story as planned or shorten it a little.

To be fair, Athena loses that challenge. However, to be fair this isn't exactly Greek mythology as the Hellenistic age collapsed about 40 years before Ovid wrote the story. I'm looking forward to your interpretation, but this story always bugs me when people apply it to Athena, as it was written in a time outside her worship.
Oh boy, I wonder how you are going to play this out. I love your comics, especially since I am just a huge fan of Greek Mythology, or just all mythology in general, and I just love how you spin every myth to make them more wholesome and funny compared to the brutality and cruelty of the originals, especially with Hades and Persephone.

Many people forget this because it rarely comes in, but Athena is also the Goddess of Arts and Crafts more or less. I don't remember why she was given that title, but my best guess is that the women of Athens were gifted with arts and crafts and believed they were blessed by Athena since they all voted for Athena when it came to actually naming the city of Athens. The citizens of Athens had to vote either Athena or Poseidon to determine what the city will be named, and with more women than men, Athena won.

I know who ??? is, but I can't remember is she was talking smack or others.
No, ??? was only talking smack about Athena when she was weaving her tapestries. Everyone who watched her believed she got her gifts from Athena, but ??? denies it saying this is all her skills and that she could probably best Athena. I don't want to spoil the myth because it will spoil the comic, but enjoy anyway.

Looking forward to a multi-part series. I found your comics through the Hades and Persephone storyline - that definitely counts as a series - and I’m sure this will be just as awesome
