I hope the whole story about Persephone eating the pomegranate and being forced to spend part of her time in the Underworld is common knowledge, otherwise this comic might raise more questions than laughs.
But don't worry, Hades. This Persephone absolutely doesn't need any of that to stay with you. :)
By the way, I always thought it only worked with pomegranates, but after doing some research, it turns out that eating ANY food from the Underworld would have the same effect. So technically, Hades could have just made her a proper brunch with pancakes, bacon, freshly squeezed orange juice, and all that... But at that point, I think the joke would have been REALLY, REALLY too complicated to understand. ^^
Anyway, I have to admit that my fear of abandonment and my desperate need to be loved would absolutely LOVE to be able to pull something like this on my significant other sometimes.
And no, I'm sorry, but the fact that we've been together for 16 years and that she regularly tells me she loves me and is happy with me is ABSOLUTELY NOT enough, thank you very much :D.

I'm better than I was when I was younger, but at 50+ now, I can tell you from experience that the struggle is still very real. And very valid. SO GLAD to have someone like your wonderful SO It'd work with any food, but pomegranate seeds is what the myth uses, so yeah. <3 Still LOVE them both so much and LOVE poor Hades...
Fun semi-related fact, In the Dresden Files, Jim Butcher's iteration of Hades reveals the pomegranates were just an excuse to get past Demeter's overprotective nature. "Oh no, guess she has to be down here half the year, what a shame, sorry Dem!" Levels of excuse lol.
