A question for the Q&A: How do astronomers decompose a spectrum into various elements and molecules? For example from JWST. I get that each element and molecule has a spectral fingerprint, but that changes with it's ionization state, right? And then there's redshift, doppler shift and who knows what else. And dust.

Hi Frazer. You mentioned the Bootes Void in this Q&A and I've been thinking about this for some time but in a more local vicinity. Do we know of area in our galaxy where if we looked with just our eyes, would see nothing but the blackness of space? We cannot see red dwarf stars unaided so guessing it would be an area devoid of more massive stars

Everything is better than The Giant Claw, but I might be the only person who has ever watched it. Your list is really good, Fraser. It will evolve as you age, but then doesn't everything (not a question, so no ?). 😀

If you haven't watched eXistenz, I think it's worth considering. If you have watched it and you still don't think it belongs on the list, then we just have different taste in movies and that's okay. 😀
