[Q&A+] Extending the Sun's Life, Moving the Earth Around, Diving Into Uranus' Atmosphere | Q&A 368
How can we theoretically extend the lifespan of the Sun? What would be the best way to change the orbit of the Earth? Would we ever dive into Uranus? And in Q&A+, would Planet 9 even be categorised as a planet, if it's ever found?

I have a question about stars, I've heard that the light from a star takes hundreds if not thousands of yrs to get from the core to the edge of the star where its released into space. Is this correct and does this mean that there are potentially hundreds or thousands of very young stars out in the galaxy that we can't see because they haven't started shining yet.
That's about how photons are emitted and absorbed over and over again as heat from inside the core slowly makes its way out of the Sun. It can take 50,000 years from when fusion reaction happens to when a photon reaches space. But it's not the same photon, it's just a calculation of how long the random walk would take. Stars take several million years to "turn on", but it's not for this reason, just that the process of compressing and heating up the core takes a while.
OOO MAN GREAT SHOW! These topics are always on my mind. Love the idea on how to move Earth away from our expanding sun when it happens! 😮👍
Why 13? Is that how many it would take to divide the sun into the right sized stars to be red dwarfs? I didn’t realize how much smaller red dwarf stars were.
Minimum red dwarf size is 7.5% the mass of the Sun.
OOOOO I LOVE THE REFUELING OF THE SUN IDEA!! 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏😃😃
so if we used a giant spoon to mix up the sun how would we make it so the spoon wouldn't get destroyed?
I think it would have to be a disposable "spoon". ☢️
