This is biocide. Ignoring the nightmare problems inherent in trying to colonize Mars, this is a recipe for destroying indigenous life, as well as contaminating any potential evidence. NASA has stated that no existing technology is adequate to protect potential Martian life, no such design exists, which guarantees destruction of the entire planet's biological traces wherever we would interact with it.
This is a bigger and bigger ethical dilemma coming at us. I think I'll do a video on this shortly, because obviously, humans are just going to ignore the problem and go ahead with their colonization plans.
I always loved the Von Braun's idea. We know much better now, but I still feel that maybe multiple ships is a better idea then just a singular ship.
His idea for multiple ships is still a really good one, and we'll want to see more ideas based on this.
