Chapter 134: I Don’t Want to Be Your Senior Sister Anymore!

TL : Cnine

Part 1

“Senior Sister,” Xiao Yifeng blurted out urgently, “there’s a crease-shaped scar on your lower abdomen. You got it when you were young, after being knocked down by that white snake.”

He could not even finish the thought without letting out a crooked, self-mocking laugh. Why did his mind always wander to proving identity through physical marks? Of all methods, he chose that one?

Had his vision truly narrowed to nothing but flashes of pale skin?

He should never have brought it up. The instant the words left his mouth, Su Miaoqing’s fury surged like a tidal wave. The scar upon her body was not some accidental blemish. She had chosen to keep it. Chosen to remember. Chosen to carve the past into her flesh so it would never fade.

Yet fate had cruelly allowed that scene to unfold before her once again, forcing her to watch Xiao Feng die before her eyes!

“Old thief! You actually dared to pry into Xiao Feng’s memories. Die! Vermilion Bird Burns the Heavens!”  Su Miaoqing transformed into a gigantic phoenix and flew towards him.

Seeing her rage spiral further out of control, Xiao Yifeng realised, with a sinking heart, that he had truly set a trap for himself and walked straight into it. No proof would convince her now. His Seven Po were still whole. After possession, rifling through memories was entirely possible.

Seeing that Su Miaoqing was truly about to reignite the Immortal Bird’s source blood, he let out a long sigh and said, “Senior Sister, look!”

And then—  His soul tore free.  forcibly separating one’s spirit from the flesh before reaching the Nascent Soul realm was a suicidal act. Yet his translucent soul drifted from his body and hovered in the open air.

Yet his translucent soul drifted from his body and hovered in the open air.  It was unmistakably him.  Pale. Fragile. Almost weightless.

His faint soul hovered in the air, as though a single breath might scatter it. After all, he had not yet reached the Nascent Soul realm. His soul body was not sturdy enough. Forcibly leaving the body could easily result in soul dispersal.

He smiled faintly, pale and trembling.  “Senior Sister… when have I ever lied to you? Other than losing to that snake when I was small, tell me, when have I ever lost to anyone?”

He turned slightly, his soul-light flickering.  “Even if Grandmaster Qingxu had truly possessed me, he couldn’t possibly replicate my soul fluctuations so quickly. He could never align them with my Seven Po so perfectly.”

The colossal phoenix descended and landed before him, flames roaring. Yet within the inferno, Su Miaoqing stood motionless.  Tears poured from her eyes.  They never reached the ground.  The flames devoured them as soon as they formed.

His soul drifted back into his body, frail and unsteady. He smiled, voice light despite everything.  “Senior Sister… Don’t cry. If you keep crying, you won’t be able to be my Senior Sister anymore.”

Hearing those familiar words, Su Miaoqing could not help but recall her childhood. After Xiao Yifeng had been severely injured by the white snake, she had gone to visit him. He had said the very same thing to her. Thinking of that, her tears flowed even more.

Unable to restrain herself, she rushed into Xiao Yifeng’s embrace while still wrapped in flames, like a fledgling swallow returning to its nest. She clung tightly to him and burst into tears.

“I truly thought I would never see you again. I was so afraid. Xiaofeng! I won’t be your Senior Sister anymore. Please don’t risk your life for me like this again, alright?”

He found himself wrapped up completely in her embrace. Gently, he rested his hand on her head and smiled.  “If you’re not my Senior Sister… then what? Planning to be my Junior Sister? I don’t mind that arrangement.”

Normally she would have swatted his hand away at once. Yet this time, she leaned into the touch, even nestling slightly closer against him. She continued to cry, holding him tightly, her shoulders trembling.

“Senior Sister or Junior Sister, it doesn’t matter. As long as you’re safe, anything is fine. I was really so afraid,” Su Miaoqing murmured.

Xiao Yifeng knew she had been truly terrified this time. He did not interrupt her tears, allowing her to release everything she had been holding in. He gently patted her back, his voice low and soothing.  “Senior Sister, don’t worry. It’s all over now. I won’t lose.”

Nestled in his arms, Su Miaoqing felt an overwhelming sense of safety. It was the first time she realised that Xiao Yifeng occupied such an important place in her heart.

At the moment he died, she had wanted to die together with him, unwilling to live alone for even a moment longer.

And at the instant he came back to life, the world in her eyes suddenly regained its colour.

Everything else became meaningless. She only wanted to follow him, to hold him tightly, and not worry about anything else.

After a while, Xiao Yifeng began to feel a little awkward. Su Miaoqing was no longer a little girl. Her figure was well-developed, and her soft body was pressed tightly against his.

Holding her like this, confronted with an expanse of pale skin, Xiao Yifeng reminded himself that he was, tragically, not a saint. He awkwardly nudged her back a little, carving out a sliver of personal space.  “Senior Sister, stop crying. Men and women should keep their distance!”

“I don’t care, I’m crying!” Su Miaoqing not only refused to move away, she even hugged him tighter. Whether intentionally or not, she twisted her body slightly.

Xiao Yifeng gasped sharply. Good heavens! Did this girl really think she was still a little child? Good heavens! He hurriedly began silently reciting the Formless Heart Sutra and the Ice-heart Mantra.

Naturally, Su Miaoqing was not completely oblivious. Girls matured early, and she spent all her time with Xiao Yifeng. Lin Ziyun had long since lectured her, repeatedly and firmly, on the difference between men and women.

Moreover, their 4th Senior Sister had once quietly explained such matters to her, so how could she possibly understand nothing at all?

Even though her body was pressed tightly against Xiao Yifeng’s, and she could clearly feel his unusual reaction, she did not mind.

Her pretty face flushed red as she thought: he may do as he wishes, so long as he is still alive.

At least that would save him from running off to those pleasure houses.

Senior Sister or Junior Sister, it did not matter. As long as she could remain by his side, that would be enough.

She lifted her head to look at Xiao Yifeng, gently reaching out to stroke his face. Her gaze was unfocused as she murmured,  “This isn’t a dream. My memories haven’t been altered, have they?”

Xiao Yifeng was amused by her fanciful thoughts and laughed.  “Of course not! I don’t even have that ability yet. When I do, I’ll make sure I finish doing bad things to you before wiping it away.”

He had originally thought Su Miaoqing would become angry, push him away, and rescue him from his current predicament.

Unexpectedly, Su Miaoqing merely buried her head back against his chest and said softly, “It doesn’t matter if you don’t erase it. Memories of being with you, good or bad, I want to keep them all.”

Xiao Yifeng was left momentarily stunned. In his Sea of Consciousness, Zhan Xian let out an angry cold snort.

“Senior Sister, just now I was only trying to trick Martial Granduncle. Otherwise he wouldn’t have dared enter my Sea of Consciousness so easily. Don’t take it seriously! Haha, my acting was rather good, wasn’t it?” Xiao Yifeng said awkwardly, afraid Su Miaoqing might misunderstand and make things uncomfortable between them.

Upon hearing this, Su Miaoqing’s body stiffened. After a long while, she gave a soft “mm”, yet she still held him tightly without moving.

Xiao Yifeng’s hand remained stiff for quite some time before finally hovering lightly at her waist. The two of them embraced in this small world between heaven and earth.

After an unknown amount of time, the world suddenly trembled, startling them both awake.

Seeing that this small realm was rapidly collapsing, Xiao Yifeng said to Su Miaoqing,  “It seems Martial Granduncle has completely perished. This illusion can no longer be maintained and is about to reveal its true form.”

Su Miaoqing gave a soft acknowledgement. With her face flushed red, she stepped out of his embrace. After confirming that the person before her truly was Xiao Yifeng, she revealed a joyful smile.

The illusions around them dissolved completely, peeling away to reveal reality once more. They found themselves standing within the circular grand hall atop the divine temple, and above them hovered that immense golden sphere of condensed energy.

Xiao Yifeng turned back towards where the great tree had stood. Beneath it lay Grandmaster Qingxu’s body, now reduced to a skeleton clad in faded green robes. The towering tree had reverted to its true form, a colossal stone stele.

The skeleton leaned against the stele as though resting.  Xiao Yifeng and Su Miaoqing approached the remains. He stood there, momentarily dazed.

Without warning, Su Miaoqing strode forward and delivered a fierce kick, sending the bones scattering across the floor.  “It’s all this shameless old man’s fault!” she snapped, her anger finally breaking loose.
