Episode 35: The Honda Fit Is God's Own Automobile [with Guest Sable Rapp of Drive Deviant]
Hello! On this week's episode the girls are joined by Sable Rapp of Drive Deviant, a queer-friendly, queer-led car club with chapters around the world! (Drive Deviant hosted the recent meetup at Mose Auto in Seattle's Georgetown neighborhood mentioned in Ep. 33!) Sable owns not one, not two, but three Honda Fits, and the girls discuss how it is God's own automobile. Victoria updates on the Jeep, Jordan fills us in about her C8 adventures in Los Angeles, and the girls generally discuss how automotive culture is actually at its best when it is a collective effort, rather than an individualist one.
Sable had to leave before the end, so the girls wrap the episode with being pissed off about Sophie Cunningham and election season generally. God, we cannot wait for it to be over.
Check out the Drive Deviant Discord and Linktree if it sounds like a group you want to be involved in! Both of us will certainly be doing a lot more with our respective chapters soon!!!
As always, our opening theme is off Stella Spazzatura's Horse Tranquilizer Simulator and our fantastic editor (who is available to edit your show, too!) is the lovely Alex/Harmful Park!

Oh my god the feelings on the trans community and having meets that are about more than just being trans ™️ Makes me want to start organizing a third event 🫠
Beautiful to hear that Victoria and Antigone's Udvar-Hazy experience is identical to mine and my wife's, my spouse patiently listening to me carry on about how the Lockheed Constellation is the platonic ideal of an aircraft, or how the F4U Corsair is one of my favorite airplanes. My favorite part was when she realized the Enola Gay had an ashtray in the cockpit and then she started looking for more cockpits with ashtrays.
never got accustomed to Duckduckgo. I used Startpage till they made login mandatory. Now i'm using Qwant.
that midterm insanity is so real, ty for making these to help pass by the workday 🙏
Operation Metro Surge proved that the ultimate urban combat vehicle is a Honda Fit containing an angry Lutheran grandma or one (1) Will Stancil
Will Stancil sucks, but I do appreciate his Fit
"LAX is good actually". Jordan, YOU are a crazy woman!
For the record nearly spat my dinner out when I heard that.
My wife and I enjoyed the lifted Fit discussion while driving in her lifted Yaris.
Lifted Fit vs Lifted Yaris offroad challenge?
How is this the second podcast i've listened to in the last week that specifically mentions SKF bearings?
Auto Corvette story rings true - I had a 7.5 Golf R that I recently moved on, it was DSG with ~380 HP and and was SO BORING to drive normally which is 98% of the time. I thought I wanted a fast car but an involving car is so much more rewarding.
Never did I expect to put 50+ dollars in my toyota camry. 😭
I got a 2nd gen BRZ recently, it gets the same fuel economy as my wife's AWD 2015 CRV but takes premium. I'm dying.
REGARDING IF ITS IRONIC FOR THE TEENAGERS AT THE MCR CONCERT: no, as a person who was also doing emo shit listening to mcr when they were 16, Which for me was four years ago, the draw was the exact opposite. there is this idealised image of the 2000s as a magical time when all was sincere and before everything was poisoned by irony. this is not a correct perception but uts really fun to act as if it was that. the 2000s did seem more Real than the 2010s and 2020s in a way. you can still see this in y2k revival stuff. another part of it is a lot of kids affiliated with the more like Optimistic atuff like frutiger aero aesthetics and shit also end up seeing the 2000s as a time Before There Was Politics, which is obviously nonsense and it is nonsense they decently often are aware of but its a fun fantasy
and yes, if you look at this for long enough you can start to see a reactionary undercurrent to this
The Harley Davidson museum in Milwaukee is a surprisingly enjoyable time. As much as it is a lifestyle brand now it's neat to see how their motorcycles evolved and sometimes stagnated over the past 120+ years. That being said, I did last go ten tears ago. I am not sure how much it has changed since then. Seeing the Nova prototype was pretty cool though, a weird lost future where Harley and Porsche worked together.
“like a corvette c8 tuned to a dead channel” truly spoken like a woman who has read neuromancer
*who has read the first sentence of neuromancer
The only complaint i have is that the usual tomfoolery being interrupted by this wholesome episode makes it exceedingly difficult to engage in humor...still a good episode though.
