Pollination Available for Pre-Order!

Hello everyone! Literal years of shooting and thousands of frames later, and I'm extremely excited to announce that Pollination is now available for pre-order.

The final product is 100 images/212 pages long on 200gsm gloss paper. It weighs 4.4 pounds (I hope your coffee table is beefy). It costs $60; we do still have stock of the "Seed" edition, which is a no-cost (except shipping) option for people who would like to keep a copy around for their personal archives but cannot afford the book right now. There is no means testing for this option, because I don't believe in it; I trust you to know if $60 is too much for you right now, and I genuinely want this history to be as preserved as broadly as possible.

If you're curious to see me talk about the project and why I undertook it, I did a video interview with my publisher you can view here:

Unfortunately, international shipping seems to cost a lot and I haven't found a good way around that, because it is being shipped from Washington state and the United States is a global pariah. The size and weight of this just makes it expensive. If you're local to Seattle (or visiting anytime soon) however, we do offer local pickup; you can literally come get the book from me directly!

Preorders will be open for September. We hope to take delivery of everyone's copies in late November, and the official launch date will be the evening of December 7th, with a talk/presentation/slideshow (with all the original slides in the books!) at Elliott Bay Books in Capitol Hill, Seattle. After that event, we'll begin mailing out copies to people, with the goal of everyone getting their books before Christmas.

The limited editions are spoken for at this time, but the books are identical between the limited editions and the standard, minus the original slide included with the limited editions. I hope this isn't too disappointing; stock was very limited (100 total, for 100 images) and I wanted to give models in the book the first chance to get a copy, which limited stock heavily.

Thank you to everyone for your patience with this project, and I deeply apologize for any of the issues with the rollout; the trip to DC took more of my focus than I hoped it would and it's been a rough week. I will try and respond to everyone's questions over the weekend, and look further into trying to reduce the cost of international shipping.

I’m a little late to the party on this, but I just pre-ordered a copy for myself. 🙂

One though on international shipping costs: A different journalist/podcaster I listen to has a book that's basically his PhD dissertation so it costs like $180; his pitch is don't buy it yourself, go to your local library and request that they order a copy. Sure that wouldn't be *your* copy, but it would make it accessible to more folks.

Does anyone in London (UK) or nearby want to do a group order? eg 4 copies in one go knocks $50 off the shipping each.
