Episode 205: Mindscape Origins
Now just what in the hell was Christopher Nolan smoking when he came up with this one! I don't know, but keep it the hell away from me! On today's show we've got the gene-altering project destined to keep humanity around for centuries to come (cool!), a beer-drinking gag gift sent forward into the future by about 40 years (wow!), and a movie dedicated to rehabilitating the public image of cops (finally!). Plus whatever else we talked about to take up the other 90 minutes of the show. I assume it's pretty good.

On the question of the "Dan cut": uncut
Hey guys love the show its really great so could you please upload lossless format audio files for all us audiophiles? 馃槀 seriously though I pay beaucoup (apparently thats how you spell it!) bucks and I need that pristine quality without all the day ruining mp3 artifacts that really harsh my mellow thanks so much!!!
The podcast is 99% speech so there's no benefit to releasing it lossless. Artefacts from the mp3 conversion process are only created if the bit rate or the sampling rate is too low - that's not the case here. For human voices you need a minimum sample rate of 8kHz but the podcast is recorded at 48kHz, which is good enough to record the dynamic range of an orchestra and better than a commercial CD. For the bit rate, 64kb/s will encode speech well enough but the episode's bit rate is over 100kb/s which again is very good (though not commercial CD quality). If you're hearing distorted sound it's either the app you're using to listen to the pod, or it's a hardware fault (mp3 player / headphones / speakers etc etc.) If you just need the file in lossless format you could convert it yourself, but the audio won't be improved and the file will be massive.
