Hey everyone,
Just a heads up, if you sign up for our Patreon (or most others) through the iOS App Store, you'll have to pay an extra 30% each month as an 'App Store fee.' That kinda blows. To circumvent this, you can just pay the normal amount for a membership on the web or on Android.
Our Patreon tiers are currently set at $5 and $10, so if you're paying more than that, you may be affected. This shouldn't impact patrons who've previously subscribed on iOS, just moving forward.
tl:dr: If you are joining the Patreon, whether for the first time or re-upping your subscription, sign up on the web or Android to avoid paying an extra 30%!

Saw it was 7.50 on the app and immediately went to the browser. What’s funny it was just as easy using Apple Pay on the website. Makes you wonder what the whole point of it is

I think it does because the App Store fee applies to all payments made through the App Store.

I pay on the patron website and log in to the app just fine from my android, btw. Maybe it'll work that way for apple too?

My payments are automatic each month I mostly use the app now, is that fine since I’m already subbed to everything or should I just delete the app altogether and only use the web version?

I have an annual subscription that renews in November. That just means I have to cancel and purchase the annual subscription on computer before then, right?
It might? I think you still might be good, double check before it renews in November that you're not getting charged more (our prices haven't changed). If you are, just resub through web, not your iphone

So I don't have the app I just use the web browser but I was thinking of getting the app on my iPad, will that effect me at all?
It just matters where you pay for the subscription so as long as you don’t change how you’re paying it shouldn’t effect you

That’s… what they do. Patreon automatically raises the price on iOS by 30% so neither they nor the creator have to pay it.

It sounds like it will affect previous subscribers when you go to renew the subscription.

it’s not just patreon, be wary of most subscriptions or purchases made via the app store because of this upcharge (ex. anything in twitch and most streaming services)
