Autobahn 81 Project – Development Update

Hi everyone,

Here is a new progress update for the Autobahn 81 project.

Over the last development phase, I have been focusing on improving the overall atmosphere, visual quality, traffic experience, and environmental details of the route. The project is now starting to feel much more alive and much closer to the final vision.

Current progress

A large part of the motorway environment is now in place, including:

• multiple finished motorway sections

• functional CSP traffic lanes in both directions

• highway signs and illuminated LED displays

• bridges and overpasses

• guardrails, road markings, reflective posts, and roadside objects

• sound barriers with custom details and graffiti

• power lines and transmission towers

• improved vegetation and embankments

• wet road conditions and reflections

• daytime, sunset, and nighttime atmosphere testing

I have also been testing the route with different cars and driving conditions to check visibility, traffic behavior, performance, lighting, and the general driving experience.

The traffic system is already working, although it still needs further balancing and optimization so that vehicle distribution feels more natural across the entire route.

Visual development

The latest screenshots show several different conditions:

• dry daytime driving

• wet asphalt and reflections

• nighttime lighting

• active motorway traffic

• environmental details such as bridges, noise barriers, and electrical infrastructure

The goal is to create a convincing German Autobahn atmosphere with a realistic visual style, while still maintaining good performance.

Next steps

The next development phase will focus on:

• extending the drivable route

• improving traffic distribution

• adding more roadside details

• refining bridge and environment textures

• improving night lighting

• optimizing vegetation and object density

• fixing remaining visual and collision issues

• continuing performance optimization

The project is still in active development, but the overall route is progressing well.
