I have no where to put this so here it is. I had a dream about the yard and Slime was bantering about Clav. Now.. I dont know what Clav looks like, never cared to, so in my dream he just looks like Joe Bart

About the this bit is the funniest thing ever convo, for me when i think of praise for the show it is actually like that, its that the bit was so funny not necessarily the whole thing in all the episodes. However, when i show someone the clip then they dont usually find it very funny, and i think its because they havent watched the last 100 episodes of the yard as i have and they dont have the context for the bit. E.g. all of the nickball / medallion / pyramid games were some of the funniest episodes for me but to someone whos never seen the show they probably arent. Same for the Nick Yingling / Kelby jokes, because The Kelby has been this mysterious, faceless, made up figure for the past 3 months is what makes the bit funny to me and that cannot be done outside of something like a sitcom, and it needs the previous many episodes to accumulate. Trying to say that making the funniest bit is like finding gold and you can be the goat for it, while the podcast style maybe makes it lesser in someones eyes because of the volume of speaking and because its not carefully crafted as say a comedy tv show, but it allows for things like this. Its also very parasocial and creeps me out when i try to tell my gf about this funny bit i heard this week and i catch myself talking about you guys like i know you which is insane, but if it was a bit from friends i wouldnt feel that way idk man.

To contextualize what a fan means when they say this show is “the funniest thing they’ve ever seen”, you guys are essentially an internet era always sunny. The cumulation of every bit made just talking (in the bar for always sunny and in the yard for you) and the extended bits following outside the norm, whether it be the beat off, the rockathon, the Doug Doug challenge, or D&D, have all coalesced into “The Yard” which makes you guys more similar to a show than a podcast in a lot of ways. It’s why I always watch the video instead of listening to the audio only because there’s a missing element that just isn’t there with most other podcasts. Love your work boys.
