I wasn't going to comment about it, but since it was brought up this episode, one of my first thoughts as Nick described Mrs. Pawg was about how much misogyny exists on the show as a bit constantly, and her character was a very extreme example.

Okay so i genuinely really like the series, its a great story. BUT it would be better if the main trait of almost every female character wasnt sex?

An actual woman here: Haven't seen the post but I genuinely have never had an issue with how the guys interact with women in the D&D show. Like, they are playing soldiers that have had limited interactions with women, so it makes sense that they're misogynistic and it's obviously indicated that they are being assholes when they do it. In stories you can show things that aren't tasteful but have the other characters and the setting show that it's unusual and wack, which is not just Dave's doing but the boys do it themselves often. Their characters have had growth over the eps, just look at Georg's latest interaction with Shozie (can't remember how to spell her name 🥲). Also, Mrs. Pawg was elite, I was so mad when Nick killed her off that I decided that I want to run a D&D character of my own based off of her.
Mmmm interesting. I think there’s a parallel to the conservative/MAGA, racist, and sexist jokes Ludwig got hammered on for recently. The joke is that he’s playing an asshole with these exaggerated socially conservative views, and people who watch him regularly understand that. But I do think that kind of humor can muddy the waters around what his actual politics are, especially for people who are only tangentially aware of him. The character can be obvious from inside the audience while looking much more ambiguous from outside it. For some people the irony is no longer really serving its purpose . Like another woman’s comment above in this thread gets at the other side of it. She seems to understand the irony and that the characters are intentionally crass, but still finds the repeated sexualization of women annoying and exhausting. Which I find fair as well.

Idk if this is similar to the post Aiden mentioned early on but as a long time podcast listener and woman, I am getting pretty fed up with how the women in the campaign are characterized/described and it’s getting tiring. At the extreme end, I feel like almost every female character is objectified or sexualized, and I know that most of the characters are overall, but it stands out to me more and it just does feel different given our real world *society* (which I do think is cringe to say but true). I also think the men usually have other or more characteristics/memorable parts to them alongside the crassness, & less so for the women in the story. But also on the simpler side, I’ve noticed that every female character is always described with adjectives like beautiful, vs the men being described just with their relatively neutral appearance traits (as in no value ascribed to it). Obviously there’s also the extremes of rolling for their hotness, which rubbed me the wrong way, but it just also happens pretty subconsciously in which each new female character’s attractiveness level is always commented on or decided. Whether it’s described positively or negatively, it’s just tiring when appearance matters so much less for men and ultimately it’s not always needed. It doesn’t really matter if Sarah is attractive bc she’s a cool undead angel but then it’s repeated over and over again how *breathtaking* she is. I truly don’t feel like yall mean to do anything sexist and don’t want to be too critical, but I’ve rarely felt this way listening to the main pod and it’s something that’s been harder and harder for me to ignore in D&D. TLDR: Not Drama/Cancelling, it’s intentionally comedically crass, but women just aren’t always beautiful, busty, hot or need to be created/described/treated that way. Feels gross. :/
Good balanced take and solid criticism imo. After scrolling through a few of “as a white man, I think this is bad” takes. I was trying to find what issues at least one woman had with it to understand what does and doesn’t bother them and this is insightful. I’m sure there’s also a fair bit of variation among women listeners too but still useful to get a coherent take on it. Edit: I see another comment from a woman at the bottom that has no issue with it for example.

Slime's ability to hit nat 20s at probably the best time both story wise and player wise is unreal and should be studied... Honestly feels like his nat 20s are never wasted
similarly, aiden’s ability to absolutely fuck everything with his nat 1s is uncanny
It's funny that the show was supposed to last 60 ep, and I feel like the past few ep Lud has been doing insane snap decision that could end everything almost like he wants it to be over, but honestly? that's just the Stonebeard way lol
