When dealing with a new Sims 4 patch, PC: 1.110.265.1030 / Mac: 1.110.265.1230, here’s how you can smoothly manage it:

1. Check Patch Notes

  • Visit The Sims 4 official forums or EA’s website to review the patch notes. This will let you know exactly what changes, fixes, or new content have been introduced.

  • Look out for any known issues listed in the patch notes to be aware of what might still need to be addressed.

2. Backup Saves & Mods

  • Before installing the update, backup your saved games and mods to avoid potential data loss or corruption:

    • Go to your Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4 > Saves folder, and copy your saves to a safe location.

    • Similarly, back up your mods folder if you use any mods or custom content.

3. Check Mod Compatibility

  • Disable mods temporarily after installing the patch. Go to Game Options > Other and uncheck “Enable Custom Content and Mods.”

  • Visit mod creators’ websites or community forums (like ModTheSims or The Sims Resource) to check for updated versions of mods. After every patch, mods may need to be updated to stay compatible.

  • Once mods are updated, gradually reintroduce them to avoid conflicts, enabling one at a time to see if they work smoothly.

4. Test Gameplay

  • After updating the game and removing or updating your mods, open your game and play for a bit to test stability. Ensure that everything is working correctly, especially if you notice specific changes in the patch notes.

5. Addressing Bugs

  • If you encounter any new bugs after the patch:

    • Visit The Sims forums to see if other players are experiencing the same issues.

    • Report the bugs on EA’s help forums, so the development team is aware.

    • Check for hotfixes or upcoming updates that might address post-patch bugs.

6. Wait for Modders' Feedback

  • If you're a heavy mod user, it's sometimes helpful to wait a few days after a patch before diving back into gameplay, as modders often update their mods or provide compatibility lists.

This approach ensures that your game stays intact and playable after a patch while also protecting your save files and mods.
