[Release] Temple of The Spider Queen - Battlemap Release
As you cross the threshold, the sound of your footsteps fades beneath the vast, vaulted ceiling. Cold violet light crawls across black stone columns, each one rising at a slightly different angle—as if the temple itself were shifting around you.
At the center of the chamber stands a towering statue of Lolth in her drow form, frozen in an elegant dance among strands of silver webbing. For a moment, the webs seem to move with her.
Then you hear the slow click of footsteps from the balcony above.
A matron priestess emerges from the shadows, resting one hand upon the railing.
“You have entered the Spider Queen’s web,” she says calmly. “Now let us see whether you are guests… or prey.”
The idea for this map came to me when I remembered the old days of reading R.A. Salvatore’s novels about Drizzt Do’Urden.
And then I thought: somehow, I still didn’t have a map that properly represented our cheerful, pointy-eared underground friends.
This release takes you inside one of the smaller temples dedicated to the Spider Goddess. At its heart stands a statue of Lolth in her humanoid form, caught in a dance with a spiderweb.
The dance is meant to reflect the elegant, passionate, and calculating nature of the drow—the way they carefully weave their intrigues, avoid threats, and set traps for one another in a game that only appears chaotic from the outside. There is always a pattern hidden beneath it.
I wanted the architecture to carry some of that chaos as well. The temple and its colonnade are intentionally not perfectly symmetrical. After all, perfection becomes much more interesting when a little chaos slips into it - a flaw that makes the whole thing more beautiful.
The map should fit nicely into an intrigue-heavy Underdark campaign, a tense conversation with a matron priestess inside the temple, or a full-blown final boss battle when negotiations inevitably go wrong.
The temple is presented from two different perspectives:
A slightly angled battlemap that better shows the shape and scale of the interior
A straight, 90-degree top-down version for a more traditional VTT setup
The release also includes three POV scenes showing the temple from the characters’ perspective.
As always, the files are divided into tier-based packs:
Static Battle Maps – available to Local Heroes and above
Animated Battle Maps – available to Heroes of the Realm and above
Static POV Scenes – available to Heroes of the Realm and above
Animated POV Scenes – available to Champions and above
Foundry VTT modules with pre-built walls and lighting are also available
If you’re unsure which files or membership tier will work best for your setup, you can now check out the new pages:

Excellent work as per usual. Constructive feedback: a slight flicker or expanding/contracting glowing radius to the purple lights as well as some small spiders scampering here and there would add to the dynamic animated nature of the map. Interior spaces are always hard to animate holistically. The swaying banners add movement, but other sources of dynamism would really sell the space feeling even more "alive". But I love the atmosphere and renderings you have achieved here. Well done!
Really appreciate your feedback - thank you. Yeah, you're totally right. Something similar crossed my mind after the release and I guess I got some idea to make it up in my next drow-themed map :).
Gorgeous map...well done!!
Thank you so much! :) Hope you find it useful in your campaign :)
