[Release] The Whispering Depths - Level Two Is Here

The sound of rushing water grows louder as the tunnel opens into a vast, broken cavern. An underground river cuts through the ruins of ancient stone fortifications, its cold mist clinging to the walls and scattered bones beneath your feet. Beyond the crumbling arches, the remains of a small camp sit in uneasy silence, as if whoever rested there may have left only moments ago. Somewhere deeper in the darkness, water echoes through passages you cannot yet see.

The second level of The Whispering Depth is ready for release!

These caves were carved out by an underground stream, or perhaps even a small river, flowing down from the level above. The tunnels run alongside the remains of ancient fortifications that once served soldiers travelling through these passages-possibly as their final stop before returning to the surface.

It’s almost impossible to tell what the ruined structures were originally used for. Whatever happened here, though, it clearly didn’t end well. Skeletons and scattered human remains can be found throughout the tunnels, suggesting that dozens, perhaps even hundreds, of people met a grim fate underground. Maybe they became trapped here, with no way back to the surface.

Not every corner of the cave is completely hostile, though. I added a small camp hidden among the ruins, where someone - or something - may have found shelter and made a temporary home. It can also give your party a rare chance to stop, catch their breath, and take a Long Rest before continuing deeper into the darkness.

Although I’m treating this as a new release, it’s technically a larger update to the original The Whispering Depth map. When you download the files from the original release, the new Level Two maps will now be included as well. Foundry modules have also been updated with new maps.
