May the 4th be with you!
Alright, we all know this is obviously Star Trek day… right? 😉
(Yeah yeah, I know - don’t revoke my nerd license just yet.)
Since I somehow don’t have maps directly tied to that… other space saga, I figured it’s the perfect excuse to shine some light on my sci-fi stuff. These maps tend to get a bit overshadowed by all the classic fantasy content here - and honestly, they deserve some love too.
So here are a few cosmic picks you might have missed:
This one is heavily inspired by one of my all-time favorite maps from Quake 3 - QDM17. Yep… I’m that old. And yes, I absolutely no-lifed that game back in the day.
Floating in space, slightly ancient in vibe, packed with multiple platforms and vertical gameplay. You’ve got jump pads for quick repositioning, which makes it perfect for dynamic boss fights or arena-style encounters.
Ahhh, the grim darkness of the 41st millennium. Stale air, industrial decay, Desoleum hive city vibes - pure Warhammer 40k energy.
The system itself might not be as mainstream as DnD or Pathfinder, but the universe? Absolutely iconic. If you’ve played Space Marine 2 and want your players to feel that world from a different perspective - this one delivers.
Also works great in pretty much any gritty sci-fi setting.
The name kinda says it all. Another dip into 40k - this time outside, on the streets.
Industrial brutality meets gothic futurism, with Imperial banners looming overhead like they’re judging your dice rolls.
It’s vertical, layered, full of balconies and overhead walkways - basically perfect for ambushes in a dark alley or chaotic urban fights.
Something ancient. Something vast. Something that probably shouldn’t even exist cosumes whole starsystems.
This one is more of a cosmic backdrop, but in the best way possible. Perfect for massive-scale encounters, surreal journeys, or those “oh no, we messed with something way beyond us” campaign moments.
So yeah - even if your table is usually all swords and dragons, today might be a good excuse to throw your players into the void for a session or two.
Who knows… maybe the Force will be with them!
Wishing the same to all fo you!
Cheers!

Quake 3? You call that old? I remember waiting a seemingly interminable time for the original Quake to actually launch in college. Of course, a delay of a year plus is nothing to people today, but back then it felt like forever!
