Progress Report + Rough Cut of a scrapped project
I HATE telling you to wait. I hate doing so because then I worry that I look lazy. On rare occasion, however, I am excited to tell you to wait because I am cooking like you wouldn't fucking believe right now. I'm not just telling you to wait, I'm telling you that I HAVE WAITED for it to come together. I've worked and worked and beat my head against the wall and, inexplicably, it was worth it.
The Blood Meridian project has been shaping into the culmination of years of work. I didn't KNOW I was working on this video as I read about Bernal Diaz del Castillo, but I was. I've been working on this video for 1/3 of my life without realizing it.
My best videos are always the ones I can't wait to show you, and this is certainly that. Thank you as always for your support and patience!
As I've said, the plan has been to make longer videos on a less frequent basis. I'm considering, in light of this, doing real scripted video updates where I get into some of the weeds in a less off-the-cuff manner than I do here. I've shied away from this in the past, as my philosophy has always been that time spent making updates is time that should be spent working on the actual project.
However, it would be refreshing, I think, to vent a bit about what is NOT working while excitedly sharing what IS working. I have a lot to say about the Geronimo project that, out of respect for viewer's time, I don't share. Another philosophy I have about my work is that I shouldn't need to TELL you how hard I worked or how diligent I was, the effort I put in shouldn't need to be outright stated.

If you're finding yourself unsatisfied going the history degree route, I highly recommend Native American Studies, which has a lot of the same things as a history degree, but I think is much more illuminating on humanity and the nuances thereof, as well as what is not human nature. I think what is not human nature but instead culture often gets left by the wayside
