People should remember too with Haymitch that he has been a mentor for all of these other tributes for decades; and that they have not had a victor from district 12 since Him. So, he has watched every single mentee die. Its no wonder he was so drunk and uninterested in the beginning keeping his distance from Katniss and Peta, not giving them great advice.
Just joined, cannot wait to see you guys continue the saga - it gets so, so much bigger, and deeper, and just more. Worth sticking with! Great watchalong.
catching fire!!
I cant wait for Catching Fire, the 2nd movie, arguably the best movie of the franchise!
Loved catching fire, but I gotta say my favourite katniss moments were still in Mockingjay part 1, so I hope they get to that one quick...
Great reaction, you two! You guys are great at balancing entertaining commentary with paying attention to the movie. It's easy to do one or the other, but it's deceptively hard to do both. You're the best, and I appreciate you! Can't wait for the rest of the series!
You should watch Battle Royal when you finish Hunger Games. It's an older Japanese film with a pretty similar concept.
As far as dystopian thrillers are concerned, I recommend the 2013 film Snowpiercer as well. It’s a great movie and I guarantee you it would make for an awesome reaction!
He looks like Chris Hemsworth. That's his brother Liam. Former Miss Milley Cyrus.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE CONTINUE THIS FRANCHISE! the second one is my absolute favorite character development twists and turns it is amazing
SO GLAD YOU GUYS ARE STARTING THESE MOVIES . You two should watch The Maze Runner trilogy as well when you get the chance. They're super good movies they give sort of the same vibe as the hunger games!
Hunger games two is absolultey EPIC, I cannot WAIT for you guys to watch it and I cant wait to watch along with you! This series has amazing twists and turns and character plots you simply will not see coming!!!
yyaaasssss!!!!!! love you both!!!!
Equalizer 2 and 3 are a must watch
I fucking love you both 👏 keep em coming
MATE i joined your Patreon just so I could watch this reaction early. I just saw the newest Hunger Games movie and it was amazing. I'd love for you guys to watch all of the films <3
same!
i volunteer as tribute to be broken in half by Hannah
One of the reasons why Hannah can connect the reality of 'The Hunger Games' to today's world, is because the author, Suzanne Collins, considered the Iraqi war a major source of the trilogy. Panem, the country of 'The Hunger Games', is a striking allusion to Iraq after the apocalyptic Iran – Iraq war, Gulf War 1991 and Embargo 1991 – 2003. While many important book scenes are left out of this first movie, one of my favourites is when, after respecting Rue's death, District 11 sponsors Katniss and sends her some bread, an act that hasn't been seen before, as the Capitol intends to pin the Districts against each other. Therefore, this sponsor, as well as District 11's response, as shown in the film, are both subtle and direct rebellions against the Capitol. Also, the scene where Haymitch is watching the young Capitol boy chase the girl around with a sword kind of instils how their innocence and childhood have been stripped from them, until all they've known to accept is violence, to the point, like 'The Hunger Games', they think it's a 'game'.
I did not know that, thanks for the insight!
That was better than I thought it was going to be.
ash you were funny asf XD
yeah thats liam hemsworth lol
Yeah Ash did well for spotting it. He's Chris' younger brother, use to be married to Miley Cyrus. The eldest Hemsworth brother Luke is in Westworld. I'm an Aussie and have been seeing Hemworths pop up in tv and film for forever, haha
ash i think you and hanna should watch battle royale it more violence and a cult classic
love that film it the OG
You guys had me CACKLING 😂 ol’ Peet’s camouflage moment gets me every time 😭
The bowl of "grapes" (berries) in the end for weird beard guy in charge of the games (Seneca Crane) was for him to eat and unalive himself. They locked him in with them. Remember President Snow told him during his warnings about underdogs and hope to be careful, because he liked him.
this reaction has made my weekend, I've been so excited to see you watch this as it is one of my favourite trilogies, alongside Star Wars and Harry Potter. I've been watching you guys for a while, but with recent releases such as Star Wars, Hunger Games and Pirates of the Caribbean, your channel is at its peak in terms of content and I can't wait to see the channel grow :) Love the reaction and you guys!
As a book and movie fan I'd rather them be so invested they are accidentally talking over explanations and having hilariously off theories than them just sitting there silent or not liking it. It's a reaction so you gotta expect talking. Also based on your reactions to the games I think especially Ash will LOVE the second movie it's largely regarded as the best movie. Hanna is spot on on how it is far fetched but fundamentally not far from the dystopian horror of our real governments
Also I think a lot of the series and talking came from kind of viewing it in a just watch some horror movies what is the twist kind of way and now them knowing the world a little bit more they'll realize they have to kind of lock in to what is being said so it's not that serious y'all 💀
The three finger salute is a symbol of respect that District 12 uses at funerals, so when they all do it for Katniss at the start it's acknowledging that she's probably going to die and honouring her. That's why Katniss does it again later on after Rue dies, to show respect.
Also, the riot that started in District 11 happened because Katniss showed such respect for Rue with the flowers and mourning her death. The Games are designed to dehumanise the tributes so the people watching get desensitised to the deaths, because they know that they're coming. Having someone from another district treat Rue's dying as a tragedy and giving weight and respect reminded District 11 how horrible the whole thing is, and how they can't allow themselves to accept it as normal.
And as someone else said, you guys did talk alot over parts which explained basically everything you were questioning/made you miss important parts. BUT, I don't think they had to say it in such a rude way. 😆😆😆😆 You're just being yourselves and it's totally okay. I figured a heads up though for the next movies. You may miss important stuff if you get too chatty as there's alot of small things to pay attention to. Also though, it's not a huge deal at the end of the day as long as you're enjoying the movies and get the gist of things. ❤️❤️ And also, there's 4 movies total in this series! I'm so excited for you guys to do the rest!
Oh youre gonna LOVE the next part in this series
Whilst I’m not really a fan of this movie franchise, I can perfectly understand why you like it so much. All I just have to say is as soon as you can, check out Battle Royale. It’s like The Hunger Games, but way better in every way possible. It’s perfect for your channel. Trust me. 😉
You guys are going to LOVE the second one. It's the best one I think.
Agree! I remember being at the beach when I read this first book. I immediately had to find a book store ( I was in a very secluded area) so that I could read the second and third! The second book and movie are OUTSTANDING and have the best character building of all the movies IMO. SO SO SO SO SO freaking good!
Just a side note - They're all kids who enter. The oldest age for people who have to enter each year is 18. And I think the youngest is 12. Between those ages you're required to enter. So it's always kids in the Games.
You often miss quite a bit, because you talk loudly, a lot. Usually about something a bit disgustingly perverted, that's just your personality so whatever but it can get a little frustrating at times when you often ask questions or get something wrong about things that had just been mentioned because you don't pay attention. For instance, Haymitch (Woody Harrelson) won for District 12 before, which is why he's the mentor. The money they win doesn't to to the district it goes to the B
Oh my god!!! It's finally here! Let's go guys ♥
Pls pls pls catching fire asap ;)
The district doesn't get money, the victor does. District 12 had a victor.... their mentor, Haymitch. In the book, District 11 sent Katniss some bread (very $$ for them) after what she did for Rue.
Please watch all 4
I BEEN WAITING FOR THIS ONE
How to watch along ? What app do I use?
You just need a copy of the movie...
I am very pleased with Hanna's outfi... your commentary.
Thank you 🙏🏼
Can’t wait to watch this!!!:))
Blood hell wicked drop
OMG YESSSSS. I'm DEAD EXCITEDDDD. This was the best thing to see this weekend! I'm about to make chili for dinner and I'm totally going to watch along! Yay!!
