George Lucas was inspired heavily by old Akira Kurosawa samurai films. This film is very similar to "The Hidden Fortress" which features a warlord after a princess, and her two servants are dispatched to get help. Lucas then put it in space and added his own sci fi spin on the story.
One of the most important films ever made. Also the scene with Luke looking into the sunset had to the one of the best scenes in cinema history.
As you guys continue watching star wars keep in mind that Chewbaca is nude the whole time.

The comments about Leia's romance are killing me. "He's more her age." 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Also, with Ash's like of Obi-Wan and hype for the big fight with Vader, I'd so want him to watch the Obi-Wan series when this is done. He is my favorite in this universe as well. If you keep watching the films, you will see the fight you are wanting from those two. But there is a fair amount of patience.

Great reaction. just wait for the fighting choreo and special effects that are to come. they just get bigger and better as they go and the visuals, creativity, set dec and costuming is always on point. amazing series. I love all of the trilogies

What a journey you're starting! I'm curious on what you guys will think. There are many different camps of opinion on this series & it usually relates to what fans grew up with: some only like the OG trilogy, some like the prequels better, some love all ten. I can't wait to see what movies you two prefer, no opinion will be a bad one!
Don’t worry, the fight scenes get better. Empire Strikes Back (the next one) is ranked as one of the best sequels ever, not to mention one of the best sci fi films.

A lot of people say "those guys are supposed to be the best shots but they can't hit anything" but they forget that the bad guys WANTED them to escape so they could follow them to the Rebel base to blow it up. Gets forgotten all the time.

You’ve taken your first step into a larger world. I’m an old school Star Wars fan who grew up with the original unaltered trilogy. A New Hope was not just a great movie, it started a pop culture phenomenon. It almost single-handedly changed science fiction movies overnight. You’re going to love The Empire Strikes Back, and Return of the Jedi when you get to them. The prequel trilogy (The Phantom Menace, The Clone Wars, Revenge of the Sith) doesn’t live up to the perfection that was the original three, but they do have their moments. Rouge One is an awesome prelude to A New Hope, and the best film outside the original trilogy. The only one that I can truly say is a true Star Wars movie. The Solo movie is okay, but it’s not a film that we were asking for, nor wanted. The sequel trilogy (The Force Awakens, The Last Jedi, Rise of Skywalker) starts out promising, but it goes downhill pretty quickly. That’s pretty much the saga in a nutshell.
Look at Alexander here fishing for attention by somehow thinking he's the one who gets to decide what others movie opinion should be. People are free to give their opinions about what they like and what they don't like. Even if it triggers a weak minded petulant child like you :)
Remember: Star Wars are only 6 movies. Anyone tells you anything else is a heretic

God, I hope they stop before watching the Disney Prequels... Stay sweet summer children and stick to these 3 or the first 6 if you MUST watch more. ❤️Don't spoil the magic❤️
I thought you meant the actual prequels which are amazing (mostly) haha but I get that you meant the sequels. There are so many wonderful things that are still worth seeing in the sequel trilogy and I would love to let them decide for themselves if they like it or not, like we all did when it first came out!
