Chapter 4: Week 19 progress
Hey, Homies!
The scene I've been working on this week has been a nightmare. I wasted a lot of time trying to fix the scene to get it working better, but I eventually had to give up as I was wasting more trying to fix the problem than I would be just powering through it. To give you an idea... Between set-up and rendering, each regular image has been averaging nearly 1.5-2 hours a piece and they're still below my usual quality standards.
Unfortunately, that means that the animations are also taking a hellish length of time as well. I had planned several animations during this scene, but I'll probably have to downsize those plans slightly and compensate somewhere later. I even had to downsize my test animations to 500p, because my first 720p test took around 18 hours just to render 32 frames. This statistic may not make sense to you, but I can assure you, that's a pretty long time, even compared to my usual 1080p animations.
Either way, all I can do is keep powering through and try to finish this nightmare scene as quickly as possible.
Hope you all have a great week!
Much Love!
JB

I agree with Arexodius. I personally don't really care for hd renders. If possible those can wait till the end for a remaster edition.
Thank you ✌️
No stress mate. But if you feel the renders eat up too much time right now, then I guess there's always the option to go back later and upgrade older renders further down the road, if someday the issue is finally fixed and/or you will have a more capable rig for spitting out HQ renders or something. Maybe you could set up the scenes the way you ultimately will want them to be and just keep rendering at a lower resolution now to save time like you have been doing, and then just re-render them at a future time at a higher res with the same set up so that the scene integrity is kept but the quality will be according to your personal standards. On the other hand, even if rendering currently takes a crapload of time for the major scenes, maybe that time doesn't need to be for nothing. At least it could give you time to brainstorm or think about the direction you wanna go with various things before putting it down into actual work – if you feel that would be at all necessary for whatever reason.
