Chapter 5 - Part 2: Week 30 Progress

Hey y'all,

I had a busy week and didn't have as much time to work on the game as I would have liked. Still, I was able to use the time I had surprisingly efficiently. I didn't get a lot of renders finished, but I ran through section 7, finalising the script/code, and made sure to have every hole patched up. As far as I can tell, section 7 is 100% complete and ready for testing/polishing.

I made decent headway into section 8 as well, though I had a few hiccups when it came to one of the trickier sections of code. Thankfully, this quickly led to me learning that I had been making things more difficult for myself this entire time with needlessly convoluted coding. Hopefully, my new method will make it quicker to code certain gameplay decisions in the future. Mind you, I'm saying all of this before getting a chance to actually test it, so I may eat my words later.

I still haven't decided exactly how I want to end the last scene in S8. I know it shouldn't be this hard to decide, but I feel like I really nailed the first section of the scene, and I want to make sure I end on just as strong a note. This is actually what led me to spend my time on the assembly phase instead of continuing that scene. My hope is to get to a point where I can test the first half of it to get a feel for its needed length and pacing. I already know I need more content for it, but there are a couple of significantly different routes I could go with it, and, for the life of me, I can't seem to choose yet. 

I don't currently have any plans this week, so I have a feeling that I'll be able to start properly testing the update any day now. So far, the dry run (scrolling the script on one screen, flipping through renders on the other) has me feeling very happy with almost everything, but we'll see how uptight about it I'll be once I'm actually playing it in real-time.
