“There’s a name… to be continued, next week” was nearly as bad as my mum driving past McDonalds as a kid and saying “there’s food at home”.
Haha, too funny. I hate to be left hanging. I usually wait until all parts get released and listen in one go.
There were so many things I was going to say about this episode. I was making mental notes as I listened, planning to tell all y’all about the edge lord virgins who used to hit on me in high school, saying increasingly darker and more morbid things trying to get me to react and how deeply cringe I find that kind of shit even to this day, the point where I put off listening to this episode as long as I could because it’s actually painful for me to sit through a reading of Dennis Rader’s high school spiral bound notebook full of his stick figure doodles shooting little pew pew guns at each other next to Metallica lyrics and the Cool S, expecting me to be impressed, but then Casey had to stop to explain what a floppy disk was and I took 8D12 psychic damage and passed out
So many fictional serial killers in tv, film, and books rip directly from BTK. The family man who moonlights as a serial killer...the brazen taunting of the police, the self reflection in correspondences...using and monitoring the newspaper and local tv...So many signature behaviors. He set the bar disgustingly hight and now, everyone wants to be smarter and more complex. I am thankful BTK was NOT smarter than a floppy disk! Epic Fail douche bag Dennis.
It’s fantastic stuff folks can’t wait for ending
I have heard the BTK story before, but your story telling makes it feel like I am hearing it for the first time again. Great job!
Welcome Back, Casefiles. Glad to hear from you again.
This closing was riveting! Great job, guys! :)
I love Casefile but I don’t understand what can we possibly learn about BTK that hasn’t been covered to death and back on mainstream media. Especially four parts… I’m a die hard fan and I’m just bored
Have you tried eating a pumpkin for enrichment? They do that at zoos
The cliff-hanger this episode ended on was fantastic. I can’t wait for the fourth and final instalment. I don’t know how your team puts up with all the armchair podcasting experts and the whiners and the people who complain that the episodes of people’s deaths and torture aren’t titillating enough for them because they’ve heard it all before. I find that mentality most distasteful and commend your professionalism in dealing with the relentlessness of people’s gripes. Thank you from one long time supporter who appreciates the work that you do.
CHEFs KISS!
I knew before listening that basically BTK had been caught because of a floppy disk but wow…. What a ding dong. Literal boomer shit.
This is wild! Like Netflix or something with the suspense but still respectful and serious. Looking forward to part 4 👍
Well-written, narrated and scored. Love the pace of the story-telling.
Really glad you're covering a more popular case. You should cover Son of Sam or Ted Bundy next.
I’ve been waiting for Russell Williams for FOREVER
Finally a patreon member! (Finally learned it existed?!?) Heck yehhh let's GO
Welcome!
Been a fan of Casefile since the first episode. This is the first time I’ve joined the Patreon. I just can’t wait to hear the next episode.
To the Casefile team: the writing in this episode is absolutely excellent. I hope you've listened to feedback about last year and this one is to show that Casefile is back Kudos to Milly Raso
The case is, of course, legendary — but four episodes? Is it really necessary? In truth, very little new emerged in today’s instalment, and the case is already well documented in general. If we assume that Casefile will release perhaps twenty new episodes before the next months-long break, it does seem a somewhat questionable editorial prioritisation. I hope to be pleasantly surprised in episode four.
I’m on the same page
Not sure why another detailed description of the Otero Murders was necessary, when one sentence "the letter included details of the Otero family" would have sufficed.
You will find that wherever a case can go, Casefile goes there, all in...
I felt so old when Casey was explaining what a floppy disk is.
Nooo I need the next one
First listener! Love ya casefile
But ... HAVE you listened? Could I get in first if I play at 120% speed?
