Case 335: Linda Brown
In the early morning hours of Tuesday, March 19 1985, police were summoned to a shocking scene at an ordinary suburban home in Garden Grove, California. 23-year-old wife and mother Linda Brown had been shot twice and killed. The culprit was her 14-year-old stepdaughter, Cinnamon Brown, who was found barely conscious and clutching a suicide note in a dog kennel in the backyard. Cinnamon openly admitted to shooting Linda, and the case appeared to be open-and-shut… But nothing was quite as it seemed in this picture-perfect family.

I really enjoyed this episode. I’d never heard of the case before and when the murderer was caught and charged so early in the episode I could guess the twist that was coming but I didn’t think it would have been as in depth of years and years of grooming and abuse and Patty being complicit in the murder of her sister!
No way I'm putting my subscription on hold; you guys do a fantastic job and I'm happy to wait :)
Great episode but what an awful man!! One of the worst predators you've recovered ..
Early on, it became pretty obvious what was actually happening and what the twist would be but still well written and enjoyable
I’m not sure where everyone is listening from, but there is a very good movie called Love, Lies and Murder made in 1991. Clancy Brown did a great job as the dad!! If you loved this episode you’ll love the movie. Great episode Casefiles.
Great episode! & I’m obsessed with this run time
Hope you guys read these as this is a more “general” question for your Behind the Files episodes but I’ll never remember it that long. What impact does it have on the team when listeners respond with experiences that are similar to experiences detailed in episodes? I’m thinking of the Jewish headmistress and the sexual abuse primarily. I won’t go into detail but I did have a similar experience with a pastor at VBS in the 80’s as did other children. I know you’re all human beings with heart. I’m more curious about how you process feedback you get from victims/survivors. That has to be an incredibly difficult part of the job you do.
I felt like I need a graphic to see who is related to who and in what way. As I got very confused at times
Great episode!! You guys are the best
Excellent episode! Great job team!
Not including last weeks episode, this is one of the best episodes Casefile has released in a very long time.
I don't think I've ever heard this case told in such detail before. thank you guys!
Good episode.
Great episode Casefile Team love the long episodes and appreciate all the hard work that goes into producing them.
I read Ann Rule’s book “If You Really Loved Me” on this case and it was really well written. I’m sure casefile will also do the case justice.
I love the pronunciation of "commissary" lol
I always listen for the ordinary American English words we say and giggle a little at the Aussie pronunciation.
Well done, team 👏
There are so many people I hate in this episode that if I yell about all of them I'll be here all day and I have a huge backlog of work to catch up on, so here's this: 1. If you live in the US and feel you're in danger of harming yourself or someone else, you can call or text 988 to reach someone who will help you. You are not bad or broken for wanting someone to help you. It is always good to seek help. There are people whose entire job it is to hold you when you're in pain and help you find a way back towards the comfort and happiness you deserve. I'm not called Suicide Sauce because I eat a lot of spicy tacos, I have been right where you are and I know how painful and terrifying things can get. I'm holding your hand and we're gonna get you through the night. 2. Cops are not your fucking friends. Don't talk to a cop ever for any reason without a lawyer present, even if you're just "being interviewed." Love you all, don't be like me and eat an entire cupcake at like 5:30am, it's not worth it. It's not worth it, man.
Not for nothing kid but cupcakes are the least of your concerns.
Thanks team, definitely up there with one of the longest run times.
It looks like you compromised on the release time :)
