Genius-iffic books aside, these comics of your life and family that you post are some of the favourite things I read. That surgery (and the reason for it) must have been horrid to bear, but I'm glad you're doing better now. And my god, I'd NOPE out of those stairs so fast! I thought my Aunt's old basement staircase was bad, but no, it's a great (if too steep) staircase compared to that nightmare!

I am SO HAPPY you included a picture of the haunted stairs. When I was little, my grandma lived in a house where the only bathroom in the house was located in the basement. The bathroom was Very Nice in a Very 70s kind of way (and had the crocheted Barbie doll to cover the extra toilet paper roll), but the rest of the basement was dirt. And the stairs were steep and slippery, and they had No Risers, so whatever was waiting on the other side could just reach through and grab your ankles. Good times 🥹

Cut your own hair if you want to! It'll grow back too fast, anyway!

Oh Kate, sounds very much like one of the surgeries I had to have last year too - it took me out for a WHILE and involved multiple hospital visits too. I looked exactly like you in that second to last comic on more than one occasion. Hope you’re being so gentle with yourself and everything is smooth sailing from here!

I was walking our two dogs the other day, and one of them is a great big floofy Pyrenees named Skye. A kid in the park saw us from across the way, and said "Wow! Wow wow wow! That's a big dog!" Sure is, kid. Wow is right.

Your journals are so great. I had a lil surgery too and on big bold letters after they say don't sign anything and don't make any important decisions till the anesthesia drugs wear off. Hahah

I had those same stairs growing up. The only thing more terrifying was the space under the stairs that held a rusty well pump and more spiderwebs than your worst nightmares can conjure.

I swear bangs retract by at least an inch as soon as they're cut! Sorry to hear you've had such a rough time – hospital stays are the worst – but at least people like your book, eh. ;)
