Vacation scribbles
There were a lot of people on this vacation! In the comics, a lot of my scribbles look the same! But there was me and my family, my sister and her family, Morgan’s brother and his family, and also we met with Emily Horne and her family. It was very nice! I don’t actually puke on rides but I might puke after them lol. None of the adults can handle the spinny rides anymore. But we are dedicated to Child Fun, to our demise.

Honestly, this is why I'm afraid to have kids--what if they like scary rides and I have to accompany them?? 😰
The expressions are so spot on
<3 <3 <3 big flashbacks to my boyfriend (now husband) and his five brothers as teens, and OH! the amount of stone-cold stunners being meted out. And now they are all nonviolent friends. :D
These are so great! Thank you for making and sharing them. I love the scribbly “captured in the moment” style.
As a fellow maritimer, I think I've done that same vacation with mine and in-laws kids. Probably at the same spot! Hard to pick a favourite but also as a fellow rides wimp, it would have to be "Nauseous".
I once went to Six Flags Magic Mountain under the false impression that I liked roller coasters. It was all the sensations of a violent death except for the sudden stop at the end. Worst of all is that you see what's about to happen to you ("Oh my God now we're going sideways!").
As someone who also cannot do rides without being dizzy I am so impressed at your commitment t
The cousin is my son (13) with each of my sister's boys (7 and 3). It is a BIG DEAL when he comes out of his room
The Emperor is a "drop coaster" at Sea World San Diego. It drops you 14 stories before going through six inversions (upside down). But what's truly devious is that once you get to the drop and start to go down, it stops you. You're facing the ground for a few seconds, questioning your life choices, before it actually drops you. My daughter made me ride it with her. TWICE. But she couldn't make me open my eyes for it! Did I mention I'm TERRIFIED of heights? She wanted to go a third time, so she went alone that time. I couldn't do it.
Never forget my cousin vehemently trying to get me to go into the haunted house with her and then watching her come out sobbing
My little brother is a foot taller than me and has an extra hundred pounds of muscle so I can’t beat him up anymore even if I wanted to.
So many flash back memories evoked. So many knowing amused head nods.
That look in the last comic ("bye bye ice cream") where you realize that something you were really looking forward to is being taken away from you because someone you love needs you more... perfection.
I'm still fine with most spinny rides as an adult, except for the cups which just make me feel queasy even before I step inside. And the Apocalypseburg Sky Battle in Legoland, which is 1. an awesome fun ride and 2. absolutely not to be attempted on a full stomach.
The Scrambler was always my favourite ride at Centreville Amusement Park, especially if the DJ played Eurodance.
I PUUD is an all-timer.
Went on our first joint family vacation this year with my sister's family. Didn't realize how much those vacations are for the kids. Love those kiddos but man was I tired.
We should all get new monster trucks whenever we want them.
Vacations carry the cannabis drink curse - something always harshens the mellow.
I have learned to plan ahead whenever the opportunity to ingest cannabis products. Do I have to 'adult' or operate machinery withing the next 4 to 6 hours?
AHHHHHHH KING BABY IS 10 I CAAAAAN’T
R.I.P. DEAD 🤣
Cousins are an incredible invention. Kudos to whomever figured that one out.
Emily Horne!! Tell her we all say hi.
This made me realize how long I’ve been following your work — because King Baby is 10?! 😭
I had the same thought!! 😭
BYE BYE ICE CREAM
BYE BYE HAPPINESS
My family exactly — as a child and adult! Some things seem universal…
That's the beauty of a Kate Beaton family comic. It's not your family but it feels so familiar it almost could be.
