General Update #39

Hey there, here's another general update on the progress of the game.

As per the last update I've been mostly working on other features and crossing them off a list I have. I've been making more progress on this list, but it's all very boring work for me. I can feel the burnout on doing this kind of work but it needs to be done.

That being said, working on new enemies helps breaks up the burnout a bit, so I'll try get another preview of another new type of enemy done for this month amidst all the more dull work.

As you saw for the last enemy, it was a goblin, the first small-type enemy. There will naturally be other goblin enemies in the future, but the caves won't just be filled with goblins. I've plans for some dark elf or drow type enemies to be in the caves too. These will likely be player-sized enemies and so they'll fill that role. I want to try and get a variety of sized enemies into each section going forward. The servant quarter was entirely player-sized enemies, and the dungeon was almost all larger sized ones, so the cave will have small, player-sized, large, and larger enemies.

The only thing I am undecided on right now with the dark elf/drow type enemy is the colour of their skin. In a lot of old and typically eastern media; dark elves depicted often had a very nice warm brown tone, but western media in terms of tabletop and fantasy often depicts dark elves as having grey and darker tones. I like both of these designs for dark elves, but I'd like to be consistent with it so I am as of yet undecided.

Let me know if you have a preference for your flavor of dark elf. If one is chosen over the other for the caves, I will likely try to get the other type into a different area of the castle in the future but I'd like to know what some people prefer.
