That's only partially true, Putin has his fingers in a lot of the pies of the rich and powerful. It's Putin's primary methodology. Putin has some dirt on Musk, possibly some financial ties as well. That the Kremlin is Trump's single largest investor, is a well established fact. Not to mention information (photos, videos, recordings) that would absolutely destroy Trump's political, social, and financial standing.
