Evermore
At last!

So late, but I love the added context for the Derval/Cecily apology, that the fiance in question was a serial killing wizard.
59:50 The first time I watched Lord of the Rings, Jenny talking about Evermore's marketing popped into my head during that bit with the horse king being mind controlled or soul controlled or whatever by the only person in those movies who could give Gollum a run for his money with bad hairdoo
I wish Ken had decided to start by building a sickass tavern catering to dnd and board game nerds that just so happens to have a giant empty lot ready to receive a ren faire at any moment. That way they could've slowly built up over time, getting to network with the traveling ren fair folks and see who might be willing to travel out on a more permanent basis... But i guess that would've involved thinking ahead which was impossible
YES! This is my thought too! A simple tavern with a stage for visiting minstrels, and maybe a gift shop with fantasy books and themed items, and maybe one (1) haunted house-style attraction with animatronics and/or live performers. This is where the "quest" concept would come into play, as the guests would have to make it through to obtain some piece of loot (perhaps a commemorative coin) from the "boss" at the end of the "dungeon." Then build it up as it makes *~money~*, with more buildings, an enchanted forest, more attractions, some rides...
KIRSTEN…KIRSTEN…WOULD YOU HAVE ME SLEEP WITH HIM?! Thanks now I’m haunted too
"hair-trigger fire wench"
5th time watching this, I just can’t get enough of these videos lol
im on my 4th watch rn before I get into the new vid
Does anyone wonder if you can fall in love with a character in evermore? Like you become friends with a character and then fall in love… then what? Get married at evermore?
Rewatching this yet again, it's just such a good video. That's all. Thank you Jenny for real this content adds so much value to my life!!!!
I know its super late but I have been meaning to mention it since the original video dropped. As a local Utahn this whole saga is really entertaining. Cause Evermore has vaguely been in the background of my life for a bit. I don't live near the park but I have family that live in the rural parts of Utah so I've driven past that area a lot. So I remember when they had billboards that just said "EVERMORE." With like eyes and magic effect or something. I was bored so I googled it and found out it was a fantasy park and went oh that seems really cool wonder what that will be. So I guess I just wanted to say I remember them having locally advertised billboards but like many evermore things they were bad and didn't really communicate any information. I'm glad ticket prices were so high when it opened so I didn't bother schlepping out there since this park seems very awkward, and not for me.
I dont think it was intentional, but you releasing this shortly after Taylor’s new album (a notable resurgence in her career) was very smart! I loved this video all the way through :)
You got a really cool tribute(?) video by a LARPer who went over every one of your categories and discussed how it's a problem LARP also has. I know nothing about LARP and will never do it, but was fascinated. https://youtu.be/zXpgxBrM0Aw
Thanks for sharing! That was a fun vid.
I've already watched this twice (the second time was to watch it with my girlfriend, I'm not a TOTAL weirdo)! So well done--informative, insightful, well-researched, funny and entertaining throughout. It's really impressive the quality of filmmaking on display (completely for free in many cases) on YouTube, and so far Jenny (that sounds overly familiar but "Ms. Nicholson" is weird too) is by far my favorite creator of that type.
ive watched it like 5 times, its a great sleep video and also just a fun video, you would not be a weirdo if you rewatched it. i rewatch most of her videos because she just has so much detail in all of them?? like if you rewatch just the background of some videos youll see something new. i dont remember which video this was, but i remember some figures in the background moving and jenny passively reacting to them, and i didnt realize until i read the comments. genuinely she puts so much thought into all her videos!
Joined Patreon because of this. These aren't rambles, these are well-composed pieces. You could easily do hr long TV shows for some network, each featuring a subject with this kind of detailed investigation.
This is a main video, not a ramble :) There should be a pinned post full of past rambles (though patreon is weird sometimes about showing it) - or wait a little for the newest one and you'll see the difference.
Great job on this one! Impressed with the diligence and at over 3.5 hrs, this length is suitable for a fully fleshed out video essay!
Hey all, I'm a former Evermore cast member (and Jenny fan) and I just made a post on the community tab where you can ask me any questions if you have any. Jenny did an excellent job and it's thrilling that a wide audience now actually knows what's been happening here.
Was there EVER a time where you think the average guest could have gone and had an experience like what the girl had in the buzzfeed video?
We just had a baby and I’ve watched this video seven times because the thought of providing crisis counseling while in character as an elf literally keeps me awake
This video was so interesting! I loved the drama of it all and the constructive feedback you offered at the end. I hope they hear it and listen because the concept really is a great one and it sounds like it was pretty neat there for awhile. I still await the day when I get a callback to be in the volunteer weeding department credits... I think maybe my resume was lost long ago in one of Jenny’s magnificent hats...🤔 (or perhaps the tier requirements changed...s’all good)
This is the best, most informative, most well made video on all of YouTube. Just superb. Sorry Defunctland and RedLetterMedia. Not even close.
Happy to be part of the Volunteer weeding department~ (^-^)d
This one should seriously be nominated for some kind of journalism award.
This video was so captivating and honestly kind of a masterpiece. Thank you for all the work and time and care you put into it, and for sharing it with us!!
i really appreciate this video. i used to work somewhere that had certain similarities to evermore (though not a theme park) in the running of it/way workers were treated/way practical concerns were ignored so a man having a midlife crisis could create his childhood dream. the volunteer weeding stuff in the video made me laugh so hard because we were doing stuff like that all the time! so many days i weeded for hours and hours in the heat and told myself it was worth it because we were helping things work well. anyway, this video really helped me understand how things were run and why things were the way they were. thanks for making it as this understanding has given me a small amount of closure!
Surprising me that even after watching the early release parts, this views fresh. I have not finished, but a little over halfway I started wondering, “Do other people do these analysis videos?” These go way beyond reviews or park experience reports. I don’t even know what to call them. It deserves every view it gets and a wider audience. And a Master Class.
sign me right up for a Jenny writing masterclass
Can anyone tell me what the little plushies Jenny has on the shelf behind her that kinda of look like Taz but there’s two and they have little shirts with ! on them?
They might be the video game character Bubsy
This was so thorough and very helpful for anyone looking to make a theme park or to make their park better. I honestly just hope that property gets taken over by a ren faire group or something. It's so pretty thus far but management is obviously a mess
I hope your video sparks some change, because it's a really cool park idea in theory! but from the looks of it seems theres a long way to go for me to care enough to take a trip. Amazing video though I enjoyed!! watched off and on for the span of 2 days and it was a treat.
Amazing work! Good jokes and nice mix of entertainment and education. This video does not disappoint! Every piece is great. Emails read by puppets. Custom ending song. This video has inspired me to make a video essay about the origin of Peter Pan. Thanks for the video and the inspiration! I hope you continue to create this great content! p.s. I live in SLC and I never ever heard of this place and everyone I've asked also had never heard of it.
Absolutely incredible. I have a question! Has anyone written out the lyrics to the evermore song during the credits? It’s so so good and I want to read them because I feel like I missed some details!
Someone posted this further up: https://youtu.be/KZM_8ud4xak
I’m so glad this is getting a lot of views, looks like we’ll break 2M
I started this, expecting to watch just 30min before starting my day, and here I am at the end of the full 3h45m.
Wow I didn't think I'd care about this topic, but your video was amazing.
the credits song/evermore parody is absolutely incredible it needs more love
IDK if you'd ever want to come back to Utah after all this, but if you do, I have a feeling you might enjoy Lagoon. There's a couple of ancient dark rides, a 100 year old wooden roller coaster, and a section of the park called Pioneer Village that's just a theme-parky museum that's got lots of cool old stuff and is usually deserted.
https://youtu.be/KZM_8ud4xak an angel posted a lyric video for the credits song. will reference for my cover. might be awhile as I'm preparing to move cross-country. 😆
Thanks for sharing. I couldn't quite understand all the lyrics.
Literally cannot believe you are putting this content out for free, so happy to support you here!
I need the credits song on Spotify and now I also really want to do a cover of it
Please make a post in the community tab if you do a cover! It may be akin to Swiftie blasphemy, but I very much prefer this bardcore parody over the original. Would love to hear more versions if they begin to exist. =D
This is a high level documentary Id expect to watch on a Netflix or Hulu. Really impressive I sat through the whole thing in one go. Really great 👍
They really should hire you as a consultant, though. I'd trust a Jenny directed theme park.
I was a sucker and thought the Buzzfeed video was going to be an accurate representation of the park. Was brainstorming about making a trip and everything.
Its so GOOD
Amazing deep dive, this is a full documentary! It's so strange that they don't have a way for first-time guests to catch up on the story. Some kind of pamplet to explain The Story So Far, character profiles or updates on the website, a mailing list summarizing each important event . . . Nah, just bring in the guests and let them GUESS at why two actors (or an actor and Kirsten) are shouting at each other.
holy shit jenny it’s so good.
This is the content we need in the world right now
please it is keeping me up at night. is the gambling goblin vaping.
I thought so at first but I think he's just holding a plastic clothespin actually. Maybe to do an on the spot dare involving it idk.
"Evermore Park is looking for talented driven individuals to join our ever expanding team. We have tons of listings across a wide variety of dynamic positions. If you're looking for a unique workplace with a great company culture, apply to Evermore Park today!" And the hiring page is riddled with typos.... Yikes
I would love to hear some comparison thoughts about your Galaxy's Edge experience, Jenny. I understand why you didn't talk about the other place in each of those videos, but seems like you've learned and thought a lot about Gameplay Immersive Experiences in the past years.
I was under the impression that Jenny hadn't yet done the Galactic Starcruiser by the time she went to Evermore--but she's also said in other places that she spent two years researching this video so maybe the timeline is more mixed
Jenny, you finished it! If they have any guts at all the park will hire you as a consultant and get their act together.
I love that you used Barbie Detective Carnival Caper as an example of good storytelling. The replayability of that game was insane.
I adored this video! Your Avatar land video has always been a fave for me, there is something so satisfying about hearing such in depth passionate analysis of what makes an experience like a theme park work for different audiences. I have never been a theme park person but it is so so cool hearing your ideas on how to structure a physical space, the reasons people seek it out and how to satisfy them. Thanks for doing these kinds of videos as I know they're less of a safe bet views-wise
Congrats on the 1 mil views on YouTube Jenny! 🥳 Ive been waiting for this one and it was sooo worth the wait! Also the credits song is too good I like it better than the original song!
1 Million views in 2 days on a 3h50 min video, impressive ! Congratulations Jenny !
Its not quite the same as what evermore was going for, but as a kid I remember loving the late great Adventure! Valley of the unknown at COSI in Columbus Ohio. The really involved story and great atmosphere is something I have never experienced since and evermore could have potentially filled that itch.
Are you talking about that one exhibit with the talking heads???? Where you have to get the different symbols to progress. I loved that exhibit!!
You know, I don't really watch the ramble videos - not that they aren't good, just not my cup of tea. I was worried that I might regret becoming a Patron, but seeing my name in the credits of the last couple main channel videos really makes me feel awesome, like I actually helped make something so entertaining and cool. No idea if that feedback is useful for you at all, but there ya go.
What a treat this was! Was perfect for the Sunday afternoon! This must have taken forever to put together and edit.
Okay, the "credit song", besides being an awesome payoff to a seemingly off-the-cuff remark, is now stuck in my head. Is there a link to the song by itself? The original doesn't scratch the itch and isn't even bardcore!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L9OhTB5eBqQ&t=13391s
1 mill in 48 hours, jesus christ. Must be gratifying to see such hard work do so well. Watching the numbers tick up and feeling happy about it makes me understand sports fans. Like it has no effect on my real life at all but I want to see the channel 'win'.
📈 These musings from a year ago make it even more fun ☺️ https://youtu.be/2zjq6mIcUNU?t=2345
Was I the only one that thought the puppet videos were actually how management was communicating to employees?
No, no I thought that too til I clocked defuntlands voice.
This one's a banger. Worth the wait!
Another million-view video!! How does The Queen do it 🥺
Here's hoping the first million views (in under 60 hours!) were better monetized than the first million of Church Plays. Don't screw this up, YouTube, the lady worked hard.
What an excellent video
amazing video jenny! im sure it was incredibly taxing work and it does not go unappreciated. im glad I can support u on patreon bc j watching it and liking/sharing it isnt enough. hope u feel good w this finally done!
I feel fortunate that our host regularly practices with an hour an hour is nothing to her, I worry always thats its unfair to demand epic sagas but I do really like them
incredible content. like u are so good at what u do. please release the credits song seperately
Watched this twice and I swear this could have been a Netflix doco series. It's so good.
Reading some of the comments on Youtube by former employees is heartbreaking. I can’t imagine greater praise for your video than to hear that it helped to bring some sorely needed closure for a number of these folks. Once again, bravo. If by some cosmic circumstance I was brought to trial before the masters of the universe and had a choice between Socrates, Clarence Darrow, and Jenny to represent me, I know who I’d pick. In a heartbeat.
Fantastic video! I've already watched it like four times. It's a shame because I'd heard of the park before and expressed interest in going but after this I think I'll just stick with my local ren faire. Again, very well researched and presented as always!
I for one would never support the consuming of an under-cat.
The thing is that Jenny’s version of the park sounds so amazing it’s a bummer It doesn’t exist. Tried looking up evermore updates and found a thing that said they completed construction of all the buildings but I honestly don’t trust them after watching this lmao
This was well worth the wait! 👏
Can't help but think of Colonial Williamsburg (former workplace) that does so much of what you recommended, and does it well - the natural in character interactions, PLUS additional, mic'ed, planned 'shows' where characters interacted for the public to watch. Some of them were on the daily brochure so you could plan ahead, some were spontaneous. Honestly I'm boggled that they didn't at least consider taking a page from CW or other living history museums - it seems like they were going for a VERY similar guest experience!
I’ve already watched this twice and it’s absolutely one of the best videos you have ever done. I’m a relative newcomer to your channel (the Hallmark deep dive was the first) but your videos have provided such joy to my husband and I. I also felt honored to have this momentous video be the first with my name in the credits. I know you said you would have rather just done a 30min travelogue but I so appreciate that you thoroughly explored this bonkers story.
2:37:17 Well said, thank you for always researching so thoroughly.
Amazing video!! And yikes, that is so SO many more bad things that I was expecting. Those poor employees! I was also sad to hear about all the expensive real antiques they shipped in that are just languishing in a crummy unfinished park with nobody to properly care for them. Sounds like a lot of them are liable to be stolen or damaged by guests, or just break down from exposure and neglect :(
1. Indisputable Masterpiece and worth the wait!! 2. I grew up 10 minutes from Pleasant Grove, and my family still lives there. I'd never heard of Evermore before Jenny mentioned it. Same with my parents. #yikes 3. Not sure if anyone is familiar with the show Freelancers? Its super quirky and hilarious. They film in Utah, and Season 2, Ep. 7 “Legend Quest” certainly seems to have been filmed in Evermore. Either that, or they are making fun of Evermore in a similar setting. The episode is great … campy and funny, plus it’s a musical episode yeeesssss 😄😍 Anyway, thought I’d mention it.
Evermore is a popular filming location for local production companies. Especially for commercials for products that have absolutely nothing to do with fantasy medieval adventure.
Are there going to be closed captions added? I really loved the video and want to share it with a hard-of-hearing friend of mine, so if there will be CCs after a while, I'll wait to send it then ^^; I know it's a very long video so if there won't be CCs, I understand.
Cc is up for me!
Thank you for completing this deep dive into Evermore history and lore! It blows my mind that The Epic Campus in Verona, WI is a more complete themed, self-guided experience (and it isn't even technically a theme park)-- which is insane and really speaks to the points you make about even basic building strategy.
Crazy to me that I’ve worked with the Epic EMR for years now and had no idea until I saw this comment that they have such a wild HQ? I won’t be able to look at patient information anymore without thinking about the Star Wars themed board room behind it all
Wow, what a ride! And then the credits song! Amazing! 😄❤️
Short and sweet.
Don't feel so bad. Wife and I went Dec 2018 and.... it was probably as you'd expect. We wanted to do things proper but they had zero (probably greed) reason to limit admittance. So we were there 3 hours or so from opening and every character actor since we got there had a perpetual crowd swarming them from start to close. I still have our quest "card" (cheap paper) plus complimentary "post card" (even cheaper paper and ink)". We staid till close and couldn't do any quests because it was hundreds of people. You complained the areas smelled of BO? You have no idea. Also the fire pits in December Utah are an unfortunate godsend, As a consolation prize, after the fact, we did see a lot of fire dancers and the tiktok guy in full suit. But yeah, as an SLC resident, you didn't miss much and we never went back.
Considering Aurora 18-19, there weren’t many actual quests or storylines to pursue so you didn’t miss a ton. The following year, maybe.
I immediately joined your patreon after seeing this masterpiece. This level of dedication needs to be rewarded! Loved every second of it :)
Other people have commented this but I’m going to chime in also - you should probably blur the CEOs license plate as it is readable. Great video!
Is it a vanity plate? PHASE 1? NOT DONE? PAYUL8R?
HUGE congrats on finally finishing this!!!!!! we all know how hard you’ve been working on it
The costumes were amazing, the insights on point, the humour brilliant, although dear lord the employee treatment section was darker than I expected (I was braced for unpaid weeding but HUGE yikes for the Everfolk's treatment), Aragog makes a dapper wizard... this is probably the closest I'll ever get to a Jenny/Ginny Di collab (especially since Ginny got a map and is likely now Jenny's enemy)... THE Vampire Diaries Video, much love, thank you for your service, and congrats on closing on on 10 million views... but this has to be Jenny's Magnum Opus now. So glad it exists, thanks and congrats for pushing through frustration and getting it out there. Just one lingering question. What was the marketing choice that triggered, if I recall the Tweet correctly, "an agitated lap around the house?" I have wondered about that ever since. Evermore Goes Dark? Was it left out for legal purposes?
Oh man haha. The video is such a blur of editing so I hope I'm not repeating this but I'm 90% I cut it. But there's still a joke about it in the video description. It was the e-books. While closed for the pandemic they sold 3 e-books, like 30 pages each, and each being a "chapter" of a bigger story. The FIRST e-book was titled "Evermore Historium Book 1: Coins of the Revenant Chapter 2: Proper Regards." I bought them all but I searched high and low for chapter 1, thinking maybe it had been taken off the marketplace. I didn't understand where Chapter 1 was and didn't want to start reading in the middle. After a lot of googling I found an answer deep in the comments of the facebook post announcing the e-books, after a customer asked. Chapter 1 wasn't a book, it was meant to be the events at the park the season prior. This was explained nowhere on the page to buy the book. So this meant anyone who didn't intuitively understand that wouldn't buy the book because they'd think it wasn't the first book. And anyone who hadn't been to the park wouldn't buy the book because they'd have no way to fill in the parts of the story they didn't know, because they would've had to be at the theme park on the ONE night that set it up.
This video was so surreal to me, I lived just a few blocks away from evermore for a few years, and I wish I could say I was surprised at this video. Some extra local info for you, yes $15 is not that much but being budget friendly is a big deal to that area of Utah. Not only does thanksgiving point exist, but there is also a garden/shopping center about 25 minutes away that is free to walk around and has frequent highly attended themed events like fairy parties and witch nights. I think what evermore should have leaned heavily into is being larp friendly and tabletop game friendly and have that as the focus. The colleges close by have larp clubs, and board games are a huge huge trend in the area. If they let you rent tables for dnd or something that could have been really smart, or host magic tournaments. Once they saw the park would struggle to be finished they should have partnered with outside vendors and become hosts for events and lowered the entrance fee. Leaning into the ren faire feel would have performed well in the area. As someone who lived in practically walking distance, has an interest in theme parks and fantasy, I heard little to nothing about the park ever, and I never went, fearing the worst. The location was a really poor choice for many reasons, but the biggest probably being the local traffic. I feel so bad for those workers who were taken advantage of and still are.
Man, what a huge bummer. That ending song made me so sad, this is such a shame. I have so much admiration for you for pushing through with this monster project. Your determination and passion really shines through. I just wish Evermore's did too. Fantastic job, your hard work paid off.
Great video! What an amazing idea for a theme park, but so incredibly squandered!
This video is literally a masterpiece but I would especially like to highlight the end credits song which is so much better than it needed to be and phenomenal in and of itself. Huge kudos to the folks who worked on that!
You absolute legend, congratulations on finishing this!
i’ll admit i did know about evermore prior to jenny talking about it, but it’s because i’m a swiftie not bc i’m a theme park fan 😂😂
Shout out Old Model Kirby with Star Rod, the only plush capable of standing with a full fairy princess outfit
re: larp actor mental health, there is an immersive horror experience in chicago called miasma which is basically a contained larp for one person at a time but it’s horror themed and very intense and scary. i’ve always wondered what rehearsals are like for these actors/what resources they have, but the safety precautions during the actual experience are extremely strict in regards to the guest/actor relationship
Great video! Really enjoyed the credits song!
Incredible video! You could talk for 10 hours and I’d be entertained.
I'm only partway in but I love the costumes you're wearing. Any chance you took separate pictures of them?
I don't know if anyone will see this, but at around 3:11:50 there's a discussion of the price of evermore.com, and Jenny is surprised that it cost $300k. Just wanted to offer a fun fact - that's actually a totally normal price for [real 8-letter-word].com. If you go any shorter it's going to be in the range of a million USD. People travel to in-person auctions for domains that good. Of course this all just adds to her argument that evermorepark.com would have been a great domain to start with as a new business.
"I'm your broken toy" is very close to erp lol
all I could think at that moment was "man, I sure would like to have a safeword in that situation. this situation would emotionally scar me more than any amount of weird sex stuff"
In my opinion this was one of the greatest works ever created. The pacing was perfect and not once did it feel like an almost 4 hour video. Oh and the costume changes kept getting better and more spectacular :D I know it was a lot of hard work, but you did an amazing job Jenny! Now if I win the powerball tonight I'll open my own theme park just to drive my giant SUV around and park at random locations.
The costumes were incredible! Each one got an audible gasp or a cheer out of my partner and me, and we had a double gasp at one point when we realized our favorite giant spider was dressed up too :)
This was your best work yet, Jenny. I've never actually watched for my name in the credits before but I did this time and it made me happy for having supported it a little bit. Thank you. I'd like more exposes on the seedy underbelly of the theme park world, please. They never found Buzzy!
loved this video jenny! So glad i can access all ur patron only vids now :D
At 3:15:45, the license plate of the CEO's car is shown, maybe blur that out?
Thought this same thing…
Me gently picking up my attention-seeking kitten: Aw do you want to hang out? Would you like to learn about Evermore theme park?
This was so incredible Jenny, and was WELL worth the wait. I was worried having seen the previews, that I would have missed all the good bits, but no. No I did not. PS:IDK if you're at liberty to answer, or if the interaction didn't actually get there, but I would LOVE to know what the CEO said when you asked to buy a shirt, and also what was the moment you realized that you weren't going to be making a 35 minute travelog?
I appreciate you mining through this terribly misguided, half-baked pit of mediocrity to bring us the gold spray-painted rocks of entertainment. You are now a level four wizard.
Jenny I love this video. Also, I don't want you to actually be embroiled in drama, but I also hope that after months and months of being quiet we finally hear someting from the Evermore socials regarding this video, after months of being quiet. More marketing for the park than has ever been done.
Hope they at least let Cheeseheads tailgate, if there's no booze in the park..., and that Brandon finds joy.
Braydon..
Is the audio a little weird in this one? Like a clicking or ticking or buzzing type sound? Like a weird microphone setting/jostling??
Can't hear it, maybe it's your audio set up? If you're using wired audio input, maybe check the connections
I need more 4-hour long videos from you! The more in-depth the better, lol. This video was amazing
How strange, that a nearly 4 hour video is my idea of heaven, when the subject of the video, a LARP garden filled with audience participation, bad accents and exposed wires feels like a very specific personal hell.
In the spirit of the swift section, what are y’all’s favorite tracks on the evermore album?
No body no crime (which interestingly also doubles as evermore’s human resources policy)
The cut to the credits song gave literal chills! Amazing job Jenny
Great video, Jenny!!
absolute slam dunk jenny!!! you should be so so so proud of all your hard work
This was amazing! I am giving you a standing ovation right now. Also this ending theme song is amazing. Original song Oscar nom should be forthcoming
Holy mackerel, what an epic video. I'm not sure what else to say... I'm gonna watch it again.
These deep dives on theme parks are some of my favorite content of yours. They may not be as popular but your love for the material really shines through.
Now you can finally rest in peace
When you said last ramble that it would be out in November I was hyped but didn't expect it to be literally five days out. This was the biggest treat, your channel is one of my favorite things on the internet.
Aaahh it's my birthday today and being blessed with an almost 4 hour long Evermore video from you is honestly one of the best gifts
Want this thumbnail framed on my wall
thanks for going so in depth, even when stuff got heavy. I can only imagine what it's like to go in intending to do a fun travelogue and running into so much employee mistreatment that extensive investigative journalism becomes necessary to cover it properly. everything about this video was so good, I wish I had better words but aaaa
Honestly the best YouTube video
In my opinion, I love the new litigation-conscious Jenny.
In my opinion, there are some clues as to which chapter got some legally-advised reshoots. For the best, good call.
Thanks. That was the most amazing in depth look at Evermore. A great bit of research and journalism. Congratulations. PS As a local I can tell you that the gift shop is open now, and last time I was there they still had full copies of the card game.
watching this a second time and god, my sleep deprived brain thought evermore’s posts in the taylor swift section were recorded and filmed with the puppets
I thought the exact same until I read this comment
THIS VIDEO WAS TRULY EPIC
This video is a masterpiece, I hope jenny is so so proud of how it turned out
the evermore parody for the credits is sublime 😭
Epic!!!! (As the text from the Taylor Swift pleading read in the video states, Evermore was primarily making claims under trademark law, not copyright law. These are very different areas of law. Most significantly, copyright law doesn’t allow you to claim exclusive rights in a single word or short phrase, like “Evermore” or “epic.”)
I did not even multitask once during this video. Can’t wait for the official Euro-theme park videos!!
I have an idea: the park should cheaply sub-let its unused buildings. I think a lot of people would be happy to do some minor repairs if they could operate a themed food stand or a new age crystal store in Evermore for a couple of nights per week. Is this a stroke of genius, or is there some obvious problem I have overlooked (apart from Evermore being turned in to a fantasy-themed mall)?
If you're renting a space and it needs repairs, it's on the landlord to fix it, or compensate you for fixing it. So he'd still have to pay! But I love this idea!
When Jenny got to the part about them using actual tombstones, I thought “wow, that seems incredibly disrespectful.” And then she got to how they treat their living employees… Honestly, there’s no excuse not to have security in the park. Give them faux metal helmets and grey tunics and call them the Town Guard and just have them patrol the grounds. They don’t need to be actors, they can just say “I can’t talk while I’m on me watch duty” when guests try to speak to them and “me lady, you’re needed in the tavern” when they see a cast member that needs extraction from an uncomfortable/dangerous situation. Adds to the immersion without breaking gameplay. Congratulations on finishing this video, Jenny! I know it was probably more for you than Evermore was for Ken Breitschneider, but in your case the results were well worth it!
Wah my name isn’t credited :/ Amazing video tho
I think only some patrons are in the credits? I joined last year and don't think I'm in the credits, maybe only the originals are named or only a higher tier? Not sure how it works
End song lyrics: Gates are open We've got until July Pins and tokens Only things you can buy Hired out the sculptors for each cobblestone Set up all the graves and catacombs Legal letters Addressed to the Void Above the pumpkins and tents Staring out at office buildings over the fence And I couldn't be sure I had a feeling so peculiar That this park could be for Evermore Same Worldwalkers Trying all the locked doors Lost the Satyr Haven't seen him since Lore I went on the train but all the music's wrong Takes me out of time with every song Wire dragons Basking in the sun Lined up at Buy's Post West Late to see the ceremony, missing my quest And I couldn't be sure I had a feeling so peculiar That this park could be for Evermore Couldn't cover all the costs ????? ["Sleep on groves that fell apart?" I didn't catch this at all] Operating at a loss But we'll open in the Fall again Just can't build the things I want Like the Kraken in the pirate case All the models in the cons Or the Jack the Ripper ??? [Again, couldn't catch it] Woulda had a shipwreck (Couldn't cover all the costs) That's ??? too (Stuck the robot in the shop now) We can get it back (Operating at a loss) If we can sue (We'll not open in the Fall again) Now we're laying off (Couldn't cover all the costs just to build the things I want) The cast and crew (Like the kraken in the pirate cave, or the models in the cons) But I swear, we'll get there (??? ???) Waiting in Vander's Keep Hall Concept from blue sky days are lining the walls And I couldn't be sure I had a feeling so peculiar That this park could be for Evermore Evermore Evermore This park'd be for Evermore Evermore
Fire!
THE THUMBNAIL I'M DYING
I swear I was going to watch this in sections but now it's 3:30am and I have that song stuck in my head. Respect the tarp!
Congratulations, Jenny, on finally getting what's been shaping up to be your magnum opus over the line! Now, let's see if I can earn any congratulations for staying lucid throughout the video given that it's landed while I've got the 'flu and my fever's just peaked at... ...104º. Great Scott! UPDATE: I forgot, "your Grace, he means you harm!" was coming and it really, really hurts to laugh that hard. CONCLUSION: We did it! Excellent as ever. Also, apologies for screaming in an enfeebled tone and weakly flailing my hands in front of my face when the 'Gameplay' chapter started and I momentarily thought you were naked. Having had time to cogitate on the idea, I recognise that it was, to say the least, unlikely.
I think Kenny B just considers Evermore as equivalent to decorating his house for halloween. He's doing it for himself and he just allows people to work there and to visit. He considers it a community service and thinks people should feel lucky that he lets them in. He made a cool thing and he wants people to see it but it's ultimately his personal playground and thus he can do whatever he wants with it. He picked out a bunch of random stuff in europe to decorate with simply because he wanted to go to europe and buy a bunch of cool stuff and have somewhere cool to display it all. He asks his employees to volunteer because he sees Evermore as a community service and volunteerwork is heavily emphasized in utah. He literally doesn't care about the guests at all or he would try to make better gameplay and not park his huge suv right in front of a major park attraction. Like I just don't think he considers it a for-profit business, despite it obviously being one. Which is gross and weird and like peak ceo/multi-millionaire behavior.
You commissioned a credits song 😭 amazing! Bravo 👏👏👏 Ken is such a quintessential rich tech bro. Constantly over-promises & loves to impress by using ✨ fancy ✨ tech words to describe his projects. I also can't believe you stood in line for over 40 minutes to have a video call with someone. Never in my wildest dreams would I have thought that's what was going to happen.
I wonder if the sorcerer would've accepted a fifty dollar plastic wand.
Underdogs eating undercats is one I am going to use.
yay! you did it!! also thank you jenny for organizing this feature documentary into a list, it is much easier to digest
you did it Jenny! Congrats! lets hope it ends here
Postponed going to bed for this and now it's 3am, though it's a Friday night so who cares actually lmao. Even with all the previews we got to watch, I was blown away [complementary] by how long this video is. Obviously we see the evidence that your super long videos are a real nightmare for you to make, so, you know, pace yourself and all that, but man I see a long runtime on one of my fave channels and it's such a thrill, like BOOM, plans settled, this is what I'm doing tonight. The story of Evermore really is heartbreaking at the end, man. That these people who so believed in the idea got chewed up and spit out by the CEO and his machine; what a massive squandering of literal human resources, not to mention how unsafe the whole thing provably turned out to be for them. Man. I was in Utah recently for a funeral and had an entire day with no plans; I considered driving down to see Evermore, but figured, you know what, if it were worth going to Jenny would've told us lol. A good decsion not to go, turns out. Fantastic work, as always, and I'm sure YOU'RE relieved to finally have it out.
OMG this is longer than Ben-Hur! I wish I had the time to watch it all in one go! Thanks for all the effort you put into this video Jenny!
That was thorough, good to finally see my name scroll by, yeah I agree, an app, predefined quests that lead to places and actors who can trigger the app to the next step some how. Weave the app bar codes into the fantasy realm. Their original plan was great up to the point where it hits the realities you pointed out, it just couldn't work, no way to tie up the infinite loose ends. We'll have the settings and actors and the crowds will love it doesn't doesn't pan out to gold, nope, all we get is pyrite. I like the idea of rehearsed stage shows, did some community theater acting myself, at given times with backstory on an up to date web site. dunno if there's room for the crowd. But yeah, one massive stage show constantly going on at every turn, not gonna happen.
End song rules! Lyrics?
Its so good! My favorite line was "Lost the Satyr, haven't seen him since Lore"
Congrats on finishing this giant project! I’ve been rewatching the two previews again and again since you first posted them, and I’m excited to be able to watch the full video now. Thank you for the great content as always! :)
Congratulations at getting this absolute beast of a video out! I already know I'm going to watch it multiple times; it's so well put together and informative. Brilliantly done! And shout out to all Evermore employees, past, present, and future because damn.
Amazing video!! Thank you so much for sharing this!!
Yessss this is the perfect treat after the most stressful week ever, I‘ve been excited for this since the first part was posted, this will be mynew comfort video for sure😍
The credits song is perfect and really felt like such a great closer. Banger video Jenny, I truly don’t mind the long wait if the videos are this well put together and so so interesting
I'm loving this trend of video essayists commissioning original music for their end credits. Seth Boyer's rendition of The Cremation of Sam McGee commissioned by Jacob Geller's Fear of Cold video is such a stone cold banger that I ended up memorizing the entire original poem so I could sing it for longer while doing deliveries for work. Also I unironically enjoy the bardcore parody of evermore (which I'm gonna call Evermore with a capital letter, to distinguish it from Swift's evermore with the stylized lowercase) more than the original. The vocals are sweeter and less sad/melancholy (which makes thematic sense; I understand why evermore sounds the way it sounds but I appreciate songs that make me happy and tend to only rarely listen to songs which make me sad; I've only played Ronan twice and I almost always skip Never Grow Up despite how beautiful they are because I so rarely want to be made to feel so sad) and I just really dig the bardcore sound in general.
I’m proud to be a member of the Volunteer Weeding Department.
AAAHHHH No way I'm so excited!!!!! 👏👏👏👏
Despite the comedy of errors and mismanagement, as someone who's lived in SLC, the park-wide liquor license miiiiight not be their fault. Utah's liquor laws are...extremely strict and liquor licenses are limited and highly competitive and come in 'full service' which requires 21+ entry restrictions or 'restaurant limited' which may exclude a venue like Evermore's park. Until recently, restaurants serving alcohol had to install a 'zion curtain' so that children couldn't view the making of the drinks and become instant raging alcoholics. Also, that bartender would've *had* to come up with his own drinks. Utah doesn't allow 2oz of any base liquor (max 1.5) so many Utah bars have to split their base or add a fortified wine/amaro/liqueur to balance the drinks. For anyone visiting Utah, NEVER order a classic cocktail, always pick a bartender's riff instead.
Yes, Utah is weird when it comes to liquor laws. Ski resorts, events, and concerts have varying degrees of liquor they sell. It would make sense the Evermore would fall under similar laws for what they could do (provided they could get a license).
Congrats on finishing this beast! It's so clear all the effort you've put in
I-How did it keep getting worse?
sounds like the peter pandom would go crazy for the evermore style of performer safety
The phrase "under-the-legs groping" gave me chills, and that the person who wrote it experienced that at least three times is beyond infuriating.
Congrats on getting this finished! Super excited to dive into it as soon as work allows tomorrow. Stupid community theatre production of Full Monty distracting me tonight...
Stellar analysis. I appreciate your normal guest perspective, and super deep dive into expenses and stuff. I hope people that make themed experiences for a living are watching this because it's a good post-mortem for when it inevitably closes. It definitely was the idea that The Void was going to pay for Evermore, but I can't imagine *any* amount of Void profit really getting Evermore to what they pitched to the public. (The Void itself is something that needs a deep dive, especially over if it even *could* have survived before COVID finally killed it.) This was well worth the wait.
Zomg
If we make this video popular enough maybe taylor swift will buy evermore and put in the money needed to make it great.
Poetic Justice, really
I’m half way through and just wanted to come back here and say this is such an impressive amount of effort to put into a video!
Holy shit, Jenny. Hell yeah.
That credit song! You’ve really outdone yourself on this one haha. Fantastic job
Now imagine a certain someone doing a cover of it!
Why am I at Disneyland right now!?
my little brother works there but is terrible at relaying information so my family group chat thanks you
It's officially EVERMORE DAY Nicholson Navy ASSEMBLE!!! Let us rejoice<3
I am going to have to wait until tomorrow to watch this, but I am SO excited. My work day is going to be a lot more enjoyable now!
I laughed pretty hard at "The Baggins family vlog" joke.
So excited!
Yay!!! I feel like I'm about to watch a freaking dissertation. Jenny has outdone herself 💖
The age old patron question: start the video at the beginning or where the previews left off..
I used the Video Speed Controller to watch the preview'd bits at 3.5x speed and the new stuff at my regular 2.0x speed, except for the Patreon credits which I watched at regular 1.0x speed twice so I could transcribe it for the comments section (and also to find my name, I think it comes onscreen with "Couldn't cover all the costs" which seems appropriate to my identity, yeah).
It is finished
Yeeeeesssss! I'm grateful to be on patreon and to have seen this video progress, and cannot wait to see it in its entirety!
I don’t even care that captions aren’t up yet. I will make it work
Wow!
I have been sick all week, I have missed out on some big events that I had been looking forward to for weeks, and if all of that meant that I had a free Friday night to watch four hours of the evermore video, it will all have been worth it
Coming back after watching it, amazingly exceeded my expectations, which were already high having seen the preview content and knowing how much work was put into it. Jenny you absolutely do not have to go this hard from now on to make us happy, but man I’m happy you waited to put this out until you felt ready. Hopefully now you’ll be able to move on to projects that bring you more joy knowing you did not only the best you could have done on this, but the best anyone anywhere could have done.
Congrats on finishing your Evermore opus!
So excited!!! We are truly blessed
NOOO! I'M AT WORK FOR 3 MORE HOURS! I'M SO EXCITED!!!
Wow you did not sound confident about that early November estimate a couple rambles ago but you hit it with room to spare!
It's happeninggggg!!!!
Oh, Jenny, you just derailed my Friday night plans so I could drop everything and watch the second half of this. At this rate, my kitten is never going to learn how to high five on command.
Why did I never think to train my cat to high five? That would be adorable.
I just got home from a 4.5hr shopping trip from hell to try and find shoes for my brother's wedding. This was the best timing I could've ever hoped for. Congratulations, Jenny. I'm so excited to see this in full!!
Of all the concepts you've discussed, I've been looking forward to this the most. The idea behind this park is intriguing to me, I can't wait to hear the story.
YASSSSSS LET THE CULTURAL RESET BEGIN 🎉🎉🎉🎉 as a utahn i’m screaming
oh my gosh I’m so excited
I have Covid right now and can do very little but sit and suffer but this is going to make my suffering much more bearable. So excited to watch!
This is the blockbuster event of the fall
jenny, congratulations!! I know this has definitely been a labor of love, thank you for taking the time to create & share this with all of us. so, so excited to dig in to this tonight!!
I hope you're able to do Enchanted Forest in Salem, Oregon someday. It's got a backstory just as weird (and continues to be weird) but it's been there longer (since the 70s?) and actually has been financially successful, even after the horrific Santiam Fire gruesomely cost family members their lives.
ENCHANTED FOREST!! That crooked house art was responsible for so many of my childhood nightmares.
HYPE
Congrats!!! Happy you were able to complete it Jenny, excited to watch!
jenny you are INSANE
woooo hooray!
Perfect timing! My dog just had surgery today and now we’re cuddling in bed watching this together thank you❤️❤️
