Ramble: Disneyland Ghost Stories

I am greatly charmed by the ghost churro. I’ve never been to Disneyland in California, so I wouldn’t know what to haunt. Maybe I’ll hang out in the parking lot and give people flats.

D
Doug Targon · April 26, 2026

I think the Churro cursed you to fail the Galactic Cruiser all those years later, the Pole was penance

D
Doug Targon · April 26, 2026

As a kid I loved Astro Blasters but it did creep me out, kinda the idea of the rooms being pitch black if not for the neon painted scenes that if I 180 my car, I would be facing a dark abyss or blank wall. The ride lowkey spooks me and after that story, while def sounded made up, did chill me bc I am a sucker for a good ghost story!

W
William McCarthy · February 26, 2026

Spitting Ghost? “Louie,” of course

N
Neil Dutton · November 1, 2025

Do we know if there are staff that still feed the feral cats at Disneyland?

J
Jeffrey Hernandez · August 15, 2025

I'd want to be at EPCOT and ride Horizons forever, and be angry at people for not seeing Horizons, and then throw things anytime Horizons wasn't what I saw. That would be ideal. At Disneyland? I dunno. The photoshop on Main Street. I could appear every time someone takes a picture in the area when they inevitably test out the photo pass program or whatever. That would be the most amusing, I think.

3 years later... is Jenny's hat from a specific character? I'm guessing it has some sort of Disney connection?

V

I don't know but I want that hat.

"Why would a ghost who was killed running along an elevated train platform by the train now manifest by running alongside the train?" It was the 60s. This is how you enter Stoner Valhalla. If I went out by dropping acid in the 60s, trying to break into Disneyland, and getting obliterated by the People Mover, you'd better believe my ass would reject the Kingdom of Heaven in favor of spending eternity singing "Good Morning Starshine" while jogging at 80mph to a crowd of bewildered and either horrified or delighted parkgoers in the Astral Plane. I love this ghost

M
Maddie Arnautov · January 21, 2025

I would haunt the HECK outta the Casey jr train and sing the Casey jr song but in a ghostly creepy way, like a horror movie trailer typa way 🚂👻

E
Ehli · January 15, 2025

if the kid knew the haunted mansion people were ghosts because they didn't have any legs/feet, how did the ghosts trigger the pressure pad in buzz lightyear? 🤔

J
Julia · January 24, 2025

tbh I feel like ghost mythos (like the amalgamation of people’s “ghost” experiences) often treats ghosts as having “weight” even if they’re invisible. so that part didn’t even strike me as odd lmao

Jenny met Alastor in the haunted house

J

Okay, I know I'm profoundly late to this but I just became a Patron BUT - I was a cast member at Innoventions from 2014 - 2015. Can confirm, definitely haunted, but cast members at the time went out of our way to speak about Debby with kindness and deference, but we definitely believe she's still on what we called "The Ring". Every day, at open and close (which was later open/earlier close than the rest of the park) , we needed to "walk the ring" to make sure all the stanchions were up between each sections, and look behind the curtains (that would have been behind the audience) to ensure they still had a fire extinguisher and flashlight, as well as to check for guests that had snuck into the hidden area, because the cameras on the ring were off. Typically this was assigned to a single cast member, and we'd all try to talk someone into walking the ring with us. One morning, I believe in May 2014, I clocked in and was told by the lead (who was in the upstairs office, next to the Iron Man interactive game) to walk the ring. The other cast member that was scheduled to open with me that morning was late, so my lead and I were the only people in the building. I walked the ring, putting up stanchions (literally like 20 of them, stretched 10 ft across), and checking behind each one for a flashlight and extinguisher, waving at Tom Morrow's animatronic, that was still on one of the ring stages at the time. When I reached the end of the circle (the exit door to Innoventions, where, at the time, there was the 3D printer printed mini Baymax replicas), I saw that the first stanchion I had put up was down. I assumed it had simply come loose, and slowly retracted while I was walking the ring, so I walked over to fix it. Because of the circular shape of the path, I didn't notice until I had walked over that the SECOND stanchion was also down. I shook my head and assumed I'd just auto pilot walked through the first two. But when I found the third one down, I laughed. I was convinced one of my co-workers was messing with me (we were a pretty tight group of cast members, because we didn't rotate with any other attractions). The general vibe, despite me being alone in a silent old building, wasn't grim and spooky - it was playful, but a little disquieting. I called out, but no one answered. I shrugged, and went to close the fourth stanchion, which was also down, when I noticed the curtain that hid the fire extinguisher and flashlight in that section was pulled back. And not only that, the flashlight was missing. I checked, and every section was missing its flashlight. I gave up and went upstairs to tell my lead, who calmly informed me that no one else should be in the building - the other morning cast member had called in to say they were still 5 minutes out, and no one from entertainment was scheduled for another hour. She asked me to go check again to see how many flashlights were missing Irritated, I went back downstairs to demand that whoever was hiding come out, because they weren't supposed to be there. I thought it might be one of my coworkers who was scheduled in 30-40 minutes, but I was now behind on my other opening tasks, and I had to make up the tasks for the late cast member. When I made it back on the ring, every stanchion was up (Including 3 I was sure I'd left down), and all the flashlights were back. I got my lead, who walked the entire area with me, and even called security to help us look. No one was there, or seen on the cameras in the area. While I'd agree its gauche to tell scary stories about the recently deceased, I like to share this story because I think it was a lighthearted experience about a ghost goofing around, and suggests that Debby can have a good time messing around in the park! I disagree that Debby's ghostly vibes are gloom and doom - that's just the old building. I guess it was a coworker messing with me after all. Inno forever!

Maddie Moreland · August 27, 2024

If I was a Disneyland ghost, I think I would want to haunt New Orleans Square and be a mystery guest that occasionally shows up to order fresh beignets before mysteriously disappearing. I’ll try my best to die wearing a 50’s style dress so my ghost fits in better with all the other vintage lady ghosts.

g
gentlecurveofeggs · August 9, 2024

I think it'd be funny to haunt small world. People are already creeped out by the dolls, I'll give them something to be creeped out about. Just occasionally possess a disney IP doll and have it look people in the eye for too long

n
notgerardway · August 2, 2024

ik im so late to this cuz i just joined recently but if i was a disneyland ghost i would wanna be one of the bears they buried in concrete and i would just kinda hang out in the general area and look a little pissed about being buried in concrete and make bear noises

I need you to know I read this comment and laughed out loud. Like, actually

R
Robert Romero Jr · June 18, 2024

I really love the extra effort Jenny put in to debunk the small world ghost. You’re not allowed to believe a fake ghost is haunting this ride.

J
Joshua Schusterman · June 12, 2024

the pope building is quite literally the scariest thing i have ever heard about at the parks by far. straight out of a horror movie. i’d rather run through the haunted mansion

e
emmett dupree · May 27, 2024

as for like greeting and saying goodbye to ghosts at attractions i would do the same when shutting down the escape room i worked at, i fear ghosts just like fun places

T
Tavz · November 27, 2023

I had an eerily similar experience on the pirates ride. i was in the back row with my mom and i could’ve sworn i felt a smack on the back of my neck. My mom insists it wasn’t her and she’s never been one to joke about stuff like that. I think i wrote it off as a kid because that’s kinda just what you do at that age lol, but hearing it in this video now is equally validating my experience as well as unnerving.

M
Mandi Coffey · October 12, 2023

If I were a ghost I would haunt the old court of angels which is now part of club 33. I would manifest as a huge party of foreign guests getting ready to take family pictures on the staircase, then as a cast member approaches to kick us out for not being part of the club, they would mysteriously all disappear in front of their eyes.

M
Mandi Coffey · October 12, 2023

Also, the Buzz story is very spooky but definitely fake as a CM who currently works the ride. It is true that you can tell when someone is on the track from the main console, the pressure pads light up on the monitor that tells you what’s going on in the ride. However, there are no monitors nearby that show you any sort of live camera footage. I don’t even know where they are, probably somewhere that only the maintenance workers access. Since there is a system in place that stops the ride anytime the pressure pads are activated from inside, the use of live footage isn’t needed from a day to day standpoint for CMs. We just have to go in and press a button in the zone to reset the ride and get it going again. Also, there there’s the fact that you need at least three people to close the ride each night. Still a fun story though!

M
Mimi Cornish · September 25, 2023

I still swear by the frontierland shops upstairs stock room being horribly haunted.

N
Nioli · September 13, 2023

I wonder if there was ever a churro cart at that particular location, because if there was then that sounds like it could have been a time slip rather than a traditional haunting.

i worked at the art of animation resort in wdw, which began construction in the early 2000's but was abandoned for like 10 years. and there were allegedly no ghosts or even ghosts stories. so i looked up a creepypasta and told it to all my coworkers as if it happened to me. the ghost's name is 50's phil if you're wondering

M
MrTophatter · April 11, 2023

i want to haunt the railroad tracks in the park, and manifest my own ghost train to ride around the park with after all the corporeal engines get put up in the shed, and like maybe the ghost train could look like the fort wilderness engines just full scale

D
DaisyMaisy · February 19, 2023

I'd hang out with all the stray cats, just be a lady sitting contentedly in out-of-bounds areas surrounded by cats and vanish if cast members came up to tell me I can't sit where I'm sitting. Chill out in a good place to people watch with a bunch of cats seems like a nice way to spend your time when you're a ghost.

m
mango · February 11, 2023

or I’d just haunt the haunted mansion ride because I’m basic and want to party and scare strangers in the afterlife

m

m

that’s exactly what I was thinking too???? granted I don’t know a ton about schizophrenia but from the little I’ve heard about it his reaction seems to be at least somewhat common (though if anyone can correct me if I’m wrong please feel free)

R
Rob Fitzsimmons · January 28, 2023

Possible reasons why Walt Disney is an angry ghost: -Park staff let his head defrost. -He was actually really onboard with Chapek's direction and is unhappy he got the rug pulled out from under him. that's it those are the only possible answers

M
Mark Smullen · January 28, 2023

I'm a bit late to the party, but if I may I'd like to offer a possible alternative theory to the incident with the radio in the Pope house, apologies if someone else already suggested this. I think that a co-worker forgot their radio and was heading home with it, then upon realising their mistake returned to the house to leave back the radio. As they were placing the radio in it's cradle they either accidentally activated it or it picked up some cross chatter which explains the sound. They then left without alerting Jenny to their presence, either they didn't know she was there or didn't want to disturb her. By her own admission she wasn't too friendly with the others on that shift and the mystery guest was probably in a hurry to get home after their work was done.

D
Dane Roberts · August 30, 2024

That definitely seems like a possibility. I think its likelihood depends on what the charging dock layout was, and how obvious it would be that there was a radio missing the first time she checked on them. If there were often empty charging docks then you probably wouldn’t notice if one had appeared the second time you looked

M
Melanie Warner · December 12, 2022

Oooh my old roommate worked at the splash mountain in Orlando and they had a story of an accident and a guest dying on the ride specifically at the 4th (maybe?) drop and they would also say hello every morning and goodnight every night I don’t remember his/her name though

K
Kartik Addanki · December 7, 2022

I'm sure people say this all the time but I really enjoyed just hearing the small details of your Disney life. Hearing about how you wanted to trade shifts, when people clocked out depending on their role, etc.. I think it's because you are a really good story teller. But I encourage just story telling of your life as video (ramble) concepts

I've never been to the California Disney [i never remember which of the two between Florida/California is World/Land, multiple people have told me and my brain just does NOT think that's important information to hold on to, which. fair.], but I feel like Star Wars Land is a hot ticket item for ghosts wanting to get in on some new real estate. I hope once George Lucas dies, legends crop up about him haunting one or both locations of SWL, and specifically in the way you imagined a malevolent Walt ghost; knocking things over, screaming, throwing fits. Seems appropriate. Anyway. Are there manholes at Disney? If yes, my ghost would simply be that I pop my head up a tiny bit out of the manhole, lifting the manhole cover with my super swole ghost neck muscles to peek out like a croc's eyes above the waterline. I don't do anything, I just watch creepily, and when you look away [or if you approach], I drop back down and the manhole cover drops back down with a really loud CLANG. We'll say that I'm the ghost of someone who died by falling into an open manhole in Disney, or [in Paranormal Home Inspectors fashion] into an open manhole anywhere in the city of Anaheim

D
Daniel Olszewski · November 10, 2022

I would no question haunt Kilimanjaro Safari's just to make sure all guests still get serenaded with Hapa Duniani which was criminally removed. Hopefully people will like my ghostly rendition better, cause as it stands my party consistently asks that I not sing it during the safari

W
WhatAlsaid! · November 10, 2022

I'm usually a skeptic when it comes to the paranormal. I've only ever really had one ghost encounter, but since I was so young, it's possible that it was just my kid brain playing tricks on me. But Jenny's story about the guy who had to transfer out of Haunted Mansion because he kept seeing angry spirits genuinely freaked me out.

B
Brian L Hughes · November 9, 2022

I like the idea of time travellers over ghosts, like the picture of the lady in the 1930s with a cellphone. But my favorite supernatural thing is that people in the past know about us in our future. It kind of makes sense because they basically planned for us to be here. Of course the idea all falls apart when I realize that I have no inkling what so ever of anyone's future self, perhaps I'm a lesser soul without the sight?

These are some great stories. I’ve definitely heard about the child ghost in Soarin. I’m not sure if they think it’s the same ghost who sometimes plays tricks on the cast in Elias & Co. if I could choose where to haunt, I think I would pick the Disneyland railroad. Sort of for “job security” since that’s one attraction that won’t be going anywhere and since I’m a main entrance CM I can still keep an eye on the gates.

I don't believe I've ever been to Disney Land, but I have been to Disney World a few times. The scariest place in that park (for my kid-self at least) was the Tom Sawyer Island walkthrough with its creepy "magnetic mines". If I were to haunt a location at a Disney park, I would definitely hide in the magnetic mines and provide extra jump-scares to the little kids and teenagers there.

There was always one I heard about a haunting at the Golden Horseshoe who worked 3rd shift, an elderly man named Frederick/Freddy who had a heart attack in one of the storage closets. The guy who talked about it said the door would open, there was banging on the small door that lead to the storage room, and they'd feel the atmosphere just get really heavy and oppressive. I think that's the only one that actually felt scary to me.

LOVE this video! First off, I had an experience visiting the parks as a little girl. We went on the Haunted Mansion and I was so afraid I closed my eyes the whole time. But I heard the sounds, including a very distinct conversation that I recall being bone chilling. When the ride was over I asked my mother about it and she looked at me like I had 3 heads and said none of that happened on the ride and no one said anything like that. So that was terrifying. Secondly- the fog you experienced is very common when people slip through time/ dimensions. There is a great book that discusses it- I'll see if I can find it and will send you the name of the chapter.

Churro Ghost! Loved that story so much! I've only been to Disneyland thrice and don't know it that well, but I have been to Disney World a million more times so I guess I'd haunt there. Maybe just generically haunt the World Showcase in Epcot? Just walk around in circles people-watching and taking in the view? Pop into the shows and scare people by disappearing halfway through Impressions de France or something?

every cm in dca thinks their attraction is haunted by the girl who got killed when dca was still a parking lot. its kind of funny to think that one single ghost has that wide of a range to haunt. i heard from a former bugsland cm that the automatic show doors in the "it's tough to be a bug!" theater were only supposed to open all at once or not at all, but sometimes at closing if you were alone a single door would slowly open with no prompting while you werent looking.

I think if I were to haunt Disneyland (I've never been to disneyland so I cant be specific) I would want to be like that churro guy you met. Mysterious, mischievious but overall harmless, just popping out of nowhere to sell you some food and then disappearing so later you can be like "wtf?"

If I had to choose a location in Disneyland to haunt it'd probably be Pixie Hollow if not for the express purpose of watching the cycle of death and rebirth as it pertains to the Peter Pandom. These are great stories & there is a real kind of appeal to scary stories about amusement parks, with the inherent irony and all. But I kind of wish that people would not base stories around suicides, that seems a bit too ghoulish. We used to have an amusement park at the top of a department store and people would make up stories about how teenagers were jumping off of it. For me that goes beyond creepy irony and is just gross.

I've definitely been watching too many Conjuring movies this weekend because my reaction to cast members greeting the mischievous spirits in the attractions so nothing would go wrong was "No! Do not greet them, do NOT thank them, that is how you get demons attached to Jack Sparrow," which feels redundant, really. I would haunt Club 33. 1) It's probably the only way I'm getting in there, 2) it feels like it's frequented by people who could use some poltergeisting. And sometimes hang out with the stockroom ghost mystified by Funko Pops because that is the most relatable ghost activity I've ever heard. Finally I love Aragog's hat, love that it looks deeply concerned, and have chosen to believe that Charles Entertainment Cheese has a thing about ghosts.

Can we do Disney world as well? Because I’d haunt the Galactic Starcruiser big entry hall. I’d crowd around the cast members when it’s time for the story interactions so that no one else can interact with them. Then disappear once they’ve given me a task. Until the day they sufficiently rework the story so that everyone can access the cast members and story points. Then I will take my rest. A benevolent pro-guest-experience poltergeist 👻👻👻

M
Madeleine · November 1, 2022

New theory of places that tend to be “haunted”: (1) young adults are regularly there alone at night (2) vibes that are some combination old, abandoned, or desolate (This video reminded me of how every high school theater has a “ghost” in the theater — makes total sense that Disney spots where young cast members have to be alone at night get that reputation.)

M

Happy Halloween! I loved these stories... the right amount of creepy! If I were a Disneyland ghost, I'd haunt the themed train that connects to the Hong Kong Disneyland (the only Disneyland I've been to). I'd get to overhear the conversations about going to/leaving Disneyland. And some days I'd pretend to be a tour guide and share all the tips that I've learnt over the years, and then whoosh off, they'd never find me!

I know you said Disneyland but if I can stretch the prompt a bit: I’d haunt the docks at the launch in Fort Wilderness. When I was a kid, it could be pretty creepy at night with the wind blowing through the trees on the beach and you hear the water slapping against the boats moored to the pier…especially since the ferry ran until about midnight. Or I could haunt the abandoned River Country water park that’s nearby.

Would I have to be a Disneyland ghost? I would have liked to haunt the old Ice Station Cool in Florida because I would blend in with the cool mist in the freezer entrance, and I could hang out with the frozen caveman and just provide a nice cooling and refreshing break from the heat and humidity. It looks like they totally ruined this location in a renovation though 😢

also, my friend was Custodial at California Adventure before Bugs Land was torn down and all of custodial swore the bathrooms there were haunted. (things moved around on their carts, bathroom doors slammed, etc.) Strangely, they also said that it was haunted by the girl that was run over by the tram. So either there were multiple tram accidents, or that little girl ghost likes to get around.

I know the parking tram accident is real, at least. I know I heard a few ghost stories in my time as a CM but they must have been lame because I don't remember the details, other than Mr. One Way, the legend himself. I do remember once someone told me that someone *that day* had ridden Splash Mountain with a recent surgical incision that split open and spilled their guts everywhere. I was like I'm pretty sure if that happened it would be closed right now. Oh someone also told me once that "proof" that Walt's head was frozen under the partner statue was written on a wall in an obscure CM-only hallway not many people were allowed into? Unclear on why it was written on the wall or what it would have even said. Just straight up "Walt's head really is under the partner statue!" written there for no reason?

I appreciate a ghost story like Mr. One Way about a ghost that seems to like the ride. This is also going to sound like a weird pull, but it makes me think of Hamtaro Ham-Ham Heartbreak where there's a ghost kid who constantly rides the roller coaster and if you talk to him he doesn't want to go home until he can see the stage show (and you end up getting his mom—who is also a ghost—to replace one of the actors who is too nervous to go on stage...Man, that game is a trip.)
