It's the big finale of the KJB Three Nights Of Power. The stakes have never been higher, we have never been more insane. They made a third Austin Powers movie.
Recorded live at the Streatham Space Project on the 15th of April 2023, It's.... Goldmember!

"The thing about Beyonce is that she is blond and American" I like the implication that, depending on which wig is on, Abby is either costumed with lust for - or just doesn't care about - Beyonce (of all people.)
First of all the grooviest director is Seijun Suzuki, so jot that down.
Oh Christ, I saw this in the theater with two native Japanese speakers (NOT my choice of film) who were fine with English but knew no slang. So many godawful lines that I knew I was going to explain them later. “So why did that big guy have one eye?” “And what was the joke?”
Obviously the Fook Mi/Fook Yu joke is absurdly racist but I did notice something thinking about it this listen that really drives home the laziness, which is that if they'd bothered to look even slightly, Fukumi and Fukuyū ARE actual Japanese given names (Fukuyū is relatively uncommon), but their racism was so divorced from even basic curiosity about its target that they didn't even leverage a more applicable available racist joke. There's something about that which compounds the racism for me, reacting racistly to an actual thing vs reacting racistly to a wrong thing they assumed for racist reasons. Of course the problem is that I'm now doing what you lot did and coming up with less lazy versions of their lazy racist jokes.
HARRY PALMER MENTIONED!!!!🗣️⁉️🍾🍾🍾
devon T-posing in a mesh shirt is one of the more powerful thumbnails I've seen in my goddamn life
give it up for PISS
The whole trying-not-to-point-out-the-mole joke was done years earlier and many times better by Uncle Buck.
The boob satellite joke is the apotheosis of Austin Powers comedy because: - it's a rehash of a joke done in a previous movie - they have someone stop the momentum of the scene to point out why the joke is bad - While explaining it - WHILE verbatim recycling a punchline from Austin Powers 2. They went from pallet-swapping the rocket dick joke to ending *with* the rocket dick joke! It's incredible.
I refuse to believe that this movie came out in 2002, I remember seeing this in theaters when it came out and I refuse to believe that was 21 years ago
His Netflix TV series 'The Pentavarate' was good, although every half hour episode insists of having five seconds of jokes about toilets and what they are used for and they are not good. Everyone stands around wondering whether this is a choice that Mike Myers decided to put in the show or whether it's some sort of nervous tick and so therefore can't be complained about.
This might be the horniest episode they've recorded
Getting the like, because at shitty job's cheap Christmas party in 2014, one of the raffle prizes turned out to be a blue ray of this movie. I feel your pain.
Perfection.
excited for The Love Guru episode/murder-suicide
also kessler syndrome isn't real, don't believe everything the boy run media tries to sell you.
zooming in on the image like, how everyone on this podcast so goddamned beautiful
Listening to the bit about going to India for The Love Guru the day after I watched Patrick Willems' Bollywood video was deeply disorienting, let me tell you.
"Row-DAY-oh" for, "Rodeo" is actually a pronunciation that you hear occasionally, which is closer to the authentic Spanish pronunciation. It's sort of a faux-authentic pronunciation that you occasionally hear in the US associated with the phrase, "This ain't my first Rodeo". He definately meant to say the line that way.
Half of my family is Dutch, so I could give you fifty different bits that play off being a Dutch guy. Somehow Mike Myers manages to dodge every single one of them. He took one of the absolutely most risible cultures out there (both in terms of ease of parody and moral acceptability of same) and couldn't come up with anything better than "this guy is so random lol."
I'm Dutch and when I first saw Goldmember as a kid, I was so confused by that character's accent. It was only recently that I was able to form a hypothesis on how his accent came to be. The "sh" instead of "s" and "toiger" instead of "tiger" make me feel like the accent was loosely based on a very strong Amsterdam accent, but some of the more common traits that make an accent typically Dutch (that the Amsterdam accent has too) were absent (the d at the end of words turning into a t, the v at the beginning of words turning into more of an f, the phenomenon where "bad" "bed" "bat" and "bet" are all pronounced as "bet"). But I appreciate that Goldmember sounds more or less correctly monotone and they didn't make him outright German like many movies tend to do.
Beyoncé passing through this movie and emerging undiminished is how one Knows, through Signs and Portents, that she is Beyoncé
Really excited here, but do you have more pics of y'alls amazing fits for this show?
The Tochinoshin namedrop from Alice is the most unexpected reference from her that I've ever understood.
I actually spent some time last year coming up with a gritty reboot of Austin Powers. In the fourth film Austin is trying to come to terms with Dr Evil and Mini-Me’s sudden death, murdered by Scott Evil. I got about five scenes in and gave up because I couldn’t waste my life on this fucking franchise.
Sign of a good episode; they talk about it longer than the actual movie. Love it!
They talk about it longer than it took to write the script
I love Abby debriefing the audience on the running jokes!
